Penguins... If they are on ice or rocks, it was in Antarctica, if there's grass or sand in the background, it was in the Falklands.

The plain black and white ones are Magellanic penguins, ones with the red beaks are Gentoos, and the big ones with yellow on them are King Penguins - they're 4 feet tall!

They had a ring of rocks around the nesting areas that the rangers told us not to pass. But, the penguins can go wherever they like, so the ones outside of the ring of rocks, I just walked right up to! I'd say 2-3 feet away??? Didn't dare get much closer - they bite.

New laws regulating emissions by dictating what kind of fuel ships have to use in Antarctic waters go into effect soon... A lot of cruiselines don't want to retro-fit the ships, so the number of cruises will be decreasing. We went on Holland America, and they plan to continue offering this itinerary, if you're interested.... It was a trip of a lifetime.
