The 6th generation is a great car. While its appearance and price haven't been widely accepted, it's superior to the 5th generation in every other category.

But Motor Authority included a response from GM and they were careful to say that the source report (from Muscle car.......) said the car will LIKELY die, not that it WILL die

The 2017-2018 6th Gen in 1LE trim is bad ass, as is 6th Gen ZL1's of any year. Not a fan of some minor 2016-2018 6th Gen design elements, but the car is very far from suck territory. Will say the 2019 is extremely disappointing front rear end wise. Hope that the 2020 design changes help the front, but I obviously haven't seen one in person so I can't say ATM. Really hope they make the 7th Gen and continue the Camaro.

If they hold off on the 7th gen, does this mean the 6th gen gets to enjoy a few more years in production? Also, I guess this means the 6th gen will eventually get the new LT2 at some point and the ZL1 will get the current ZR1's 755 hp LT5. That will compete nicely with the new GT500's 760 hp.

I see this as they're waiting to see how the emergency refresh update will sell. If it sells well, keep things on track and announce the new Camaro when it was already slated to be released publicly.
If it doesn't sell well: speed up the process on the 7th Gen Camaro and release it earlier

I've owned a '10 SS, a '13 ZL1 vert, and now a '17 ZL1 Coupe. Based on that I'd say your opinion is half right. The other half is just dead wrong.

This is certainly not happening.

The Corvette is still "America's sports car". I don't think we will see a base Corvette of $100k so they're going to have to do something to still meet a "reasonable" price point. I'm purely speculating, but with GM's push for electric vehicles I would not be surprised if Corvette went electric one day in the not so distant future.

Sorry but I'll say it again....If anybody thinks this 2020 update will increase sales let alone save the Camaro, good luck with that.

IDK, people's loans will probably be nearing an end, and the 2020 LT1 is pretty well priced. Maybe people looking at used 16-18s, might just spend a little more and get a brand new LT1.

Everyone has their own reasons for purchasing the car, whether it be auto or manual, or V8, V6 or I4. But the biggest reason I did not move from 5th to 6th was the room on the inside and trunk space. To me, the 6th was more like a Vette as far as storage space. When I head to the beach for a 10-12 day vacation.. I need room for 'stuff', without feeling limited to what I can or cannot take. The 5th Gen met those needs, the 6th Gen did not. The 6th is still a great car, but did not fit our needs for vacation or travel.

The ONLY way I see the Camaro coming to an end, is IF Ford follows thu on their statement that they would end all sedan's and move to Trucks and SUVs, and the would include the Mustang which I seriously doubt will happen.
I can't see GM ending the Camaro if the Mustang is still being produced. |
