Eagles Canyon and Apex Pro!
Had another fun day at Eagles Canyon -- they provide a very fun place to run!
I only had a couple of thing happen -- Muffler dropped in the same place again - new rear diffuser again, a very small oil leak, GoPRO didn't get data for the first session, UGH! -- out side of that, she did GREAT! Temps were fantastic -- it was 110° track temps, 100° ambient -- so it was H O T... My MAX temps were as follows: 182° Trans using comp mode, sport, and paddles, Mostly in 3rd (into and out of turns), 4th, some 5th gear on long straights... 273° oil temps 212° coolant 147° IAT2 Pretty damn good for that ambient! I was lucky on the muffler drop as they have 'on sight' race shop and those guys got me back and racing before my next session -- was very thankful for that. I L O V E the Apex Pro -- that tool is JUST FANTASTIC! First, I was 3 seconds faster this time around:! So much info and analysis there -- just amazing. I can run my videos of my session along with my Apex Pro and I can get a complete picture of what I was (and was not) doing -- simply awesome! Their latest firmware update gave me actual analysis of how I was doing. Here is a short video: So awesome and really fantastic! Can’t say enough good things about this tool -- like having a coach all the time... My small oil leak was from the other side inspection cover bolt -- so I did the same thing -- use Teflon paste and tighten it up. I'm going to 'test' these this time by driving around 70 MPH in 3rd gear just to raise up the RPMs and oil pressure - so I can be sure its covered this time. So, I'm now going to prep for Camaro fest -- going to rebuild the Brembos, get the Ridge Collars installed while I'm at it. Just as a side note, the Pat_t GoPro visor mount didn’t have what it takes in this Texas Heat -- it just wouldn't hold its position or lock the visor -- going back to factory and my window mount. -Don

The Apex Pro is a very cool item. I learned a ton today when I reviewed my GoPro with this. The side by side is awesome and I now know where I can improve. I do scan it while driving but, my eyes are up and forward ;o)
My iPhone had a ‘heat’ emergency shutdown so I was not able to get all my sessions — that is not Apex Pros fault ;o) Great learning tool... Can’t wait for CFest! -Don

Found out something new -- My MightMouse catch can is being overwhelm by the hp and pressure being produced while road racing. After reviewing David's comments about that subject, I've ordered his 'Wild' recirculating Catch Can. This should solve that issue as well as keep the oil from leaking.
https://www.mightymousesolutions.com.../camaro-5-wild Recirculating kit (get the combo for current order!) https://www.mightymousesolutions.com...lator-your-can I'm betting this will help considerably since I'm 13.5 psi and ~920 hp crank... Waiting for my Castrol Red Rubber Grease to rebuild the calipers, then do a 'after' track day prep -- Ridge Collars will come sometime soon... -Don

Signed up for Hooked on Driving intermediate class -- talked to Johnsonrod (Danny) and he suggested I do this group.
Can't wait -- getting my new pads, caliper's rebuilt with Corvette vented pistons, and the whole 'bleed' thing again -- then figure out the best way to do the ridge collars -- that'll be fun! -Don

Six Piston Brembo Caliper Rebuild
Today I started my Brembo Caliper Rebuilds -- Fronts are getting the Vette vented pistons!
This is the current price on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-23242...words=23242510 Part # is: 23242510 First took off the pin kit and brake pads: cleaned the pin kit (the set GM sent has the right number but WRONG size) so I can reuse it -- note the 'arrow': Prep for pad removeal and also push out as much fluid as I can -- opened my speed bleeder 1 at a time and push out the 'fluid' in the caliper: Saving the pads so using a plastic trim tool to push the pistons in: Removing the pads: Now I used wood shims to assist in popping out the pistons -- many YouTubes' on that -- took me 15 minutes to pop all 6 to a point I could pull them out with my fingers -- use a thick set of wood shims and make them 'thinner' until all the pistons pop out enough to pull them. After that, did my clean up: Old pistons/seals/dust boots: Cleaned up caliper and get her ready for the upgrade!: Assembly time! First, install the square cut o-rings using red rubber grease(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e=UTF8&psc=1): Use a light and validate that ALL the o-rings are seated correctly and NOT twisted! After that, clean off any excess grease where the dust boot goes. Next pistons and boots -- this will go on pretty easy, I just lubed the inside of the dust boot, put it on the piston, lubed the piston, then pressed the piston down (goes in pretty easy with just a little effort) and then press down the boot!: Now for the bolts I'm using 'reusable' bolts I purchased from ZZPerformance along with Nord-lock washers. I'm also using ARP lube on the bolts to get the correct clamping the Nord-Locks requested. Basically for a 10.9 M14 non-finished bolt and 'steel' nord-locks using a moly type lube, 135 ft lbs is needed for the front: I cleaned the caliper bolt holes VERY well and then made sure I could hand tighten the bolt. Once that was done, I lubed up the threads with ARP lubed and torqued them down!: After that, I installed the pad (used some brake grease on the sliding area), installed the old pin kit, the the banjo fitting with new banjo washers. Bolt on the caliper for the pads torques to 24 ft lbs (used blue loc-tite), brake line to the strut 12 ft lbs, banjo fitting 30 ft lbs. FYI here is a comparison of the new vs old pads: Now rinse, repeat, then bleed (I'll be doing these over the next week since I have a work time crunch). The vented pistons will vent an additional 86° of heat! -Don

Left Rear: Ready to install after clean up: Kit installed: With these Nord-Locks, rear, 85 ft lbs with the ARP lube: Installed (rear kit pins were too short so had to use the originals again)!: Right side kit installed: Right Rear Installed: Nord-locks: Next will be the Right Front! -Don

Had some spare time to finally finish the right front caliper -- all vented pistons in the front. My temp gauges for the caliper also came in so after bleeding the calipers, I'll put these where I can view them!
Nord-Locks to 135 ft. lbs: Bleeding next! -Don
