SS vs 08 GT500 at the track last night
So last night at the track there were 2 new Camaro SS and a bone stock 2008 Shelby GT500, and a 2009 modded GT500.
The stock GT500 (2200 miles) And it was that guys first time at the track with it. He even had the stock good years on it and wasn't doing a burnout: 12.69 @ 115 12.57 @ 116 12.54 @ 116 The Modded GT500 had a pulley, intake, tune, exhaust and lightly spun the good years to get the dirt off ( Didn't Smoke them) and was running: 11.76 @ 119 11.72 @ 120 11.51 @ 122 I was looking at the Camaro's most of the night but the GT500 guys would always park by us after runs, (everyone else was mostly a ricer ) But it was cool listening on the modded GT500 owner give advice on to what tune, and parts the stock GT500 should buy. Now the 2 camaros there were both LS3 M6 a Stock one, and the other had an intake, and tune, and borla exhaust. Stock Camaro: 13.21 @ 109 13.18 @ 110 13.15 @ 110 Modded Camaro: 13.13 @ 111 12.98 @ 112 12.89 @ 112 Overall it was a night. The fastest ricer there was a modded WRX STI running 13.3-13.5's at traps around 108 mph. AMERICAN MUSCLE FTW!!!!!!!! (except for the charger R/T that was running 14's :( )

Seems like a large disparity between the GT500 and the SS.
When I had the GT500 I couldn't keep the tires planted for anything. Kept spinning. |

I trolled the GT500 forums and it seems the average time for a stock 07-09 is mid 12's around the 115-117 mark. I wonder what nhra stocker's time would be in a GT500 cause it seems you can drive!!!! I also got my H2 to a 17.8 1/4 mile at 79.9

Those are some great runs by the modded GT500 on those good years.

What were you expecting? They weigh about the same, and one makes over 100 hp more than the other.
