I like it with just the SS personally.
The SS emblem has 2 'tabs' coming out of the back. With a sharp blade and a heating iron you can fashion a backing plate for these tabs.

Looks great. Very "clean" looking. Is this the "unpainted" version of the grille? If left unpainted, does it match the lower pirce of grille (facshia)? IMO, I'd leave the bow tie off and go with just the "SS" badge, just me though. Lori

The part that surrounds the black grille is painted red. the part that goes over the parking lights is painted black. When it comes from GM it isn't painted, it is either black or gray.

How hard is it to change over the SS or RS badge?

The place I got the grille from also has the SS & RS to put on it without any fuss.

Can we get more pictures of everyone's Heritage Grills? I am definitely getting one but undecided about paint and emblems....

Did mine this weekend. The instructions leave out 4 bolts you need to remove but if you are mechanically inclined you will notice them right away (hint: there are 2 on each side inside the wheel well near the side light/reflector. On the one the nut is welded on so don't try to remove the nut). Also, you need a star headed wrench for some of the screws (can't remember the size) which is not mentioned in the instructions. Also with the scivets don't use a traditional trim tool - I trashed some of mine that way. Just use a screwdriver by inserting it in the flat slot in-between the two pieces of plastic (each scivit is two pieces the center round pin and outer round shell that looks like a washer when installed). Then pry-pop the center part out and then the second part will just pull out. Install in reverse order. Using a trim tool ruins them. It took about an hour and a half being really careful. Well worth the look. I epoxied a new SS logo on.
