Yea, very impressive. I've not yet had that same experience with MPG, but I also don't stay at a steady state speed very often. But overall, I also feel for a high HP car, I'm very pleased with the ~20 MPG I am seeing. Technology has done amazing things for power, fuel economy, and emissions.

Way back in the day, I had a '69 Mustang Mach One with the 428 Cobra Jet engine. It had a Holly 780 double pumper carb & 4.11 differential gears. I got about 8 MPG for comparison, & although it was a quick ride in it's day, my SS would have smoked it under any circumstance. And I complained about that $0.62 premium it gulped which was double the price on premium from just two years earlier...

It was one of the reasons I went with the Camaro instead of the Challenger Scat Pack. I knew I would regret the piss poor MPG on the Chally and kick myself for not getting this car.

I can recall the early 1970's. I had a 69 Corvette Coupe. 350/350 with a crane cam, Hooker headers, 3 bbl Holley on an Edelbrock hi rise, 4:11 gears, etc. I worked about 45 miles from my home, all small towns and two lane roads the entire way. You'd barely get up to 50 mph , then a few miles later slow for the next village.

I couldn't make the trip on a tank of fuel. Had to fill up on the way home. I was also ALWAYS on the gas and any start was about as maximum as the local LE would allow.

I forget what Sunoco 260 cost at the time but I recall my daily fuel was like $12 or maybe ten.

How times have changed!

$12 was a lot of money back then !!

I think gas is very cheap right now. Who knows how long it stays that way.

One typical road trip for us is San Jose to
Chico. All freeway and once out of the cities I cruise at 80.

Same trip nets the following in our cars :
Mazda 3S. 33
Camaro SS vert. 24
E39 M5. 22
Colorado 21

I cant believe the MPG #'s you guys are getting. I have 5k miles on my 2016 2SS M6 and have never seen north of 19mpg! I drive 50%/50% highway and backroad and never saw above 17.6MPG in my 2010SS M6 either

GM has the engine management system(don't remember the exact technical name) on this engine where it shifts from a V8 to a V4 when the car is just cruising. It even shows up on the dashboard if the engine is in the V4 mode or V8. This has improved the mpg. Really impressed with GM's technology here on the Camaro where a lot of other manufactures lower the engine size to a V6 turbo or I-6/I-4 turbo to get more power with good fuel economy and even then they don't get the numbers shown by some of the members on this post.

I have AFM disabled (V8 all the time) and getting 19MPG average.
Passive aggressive style, suburban roads mostly.

We rode ours on a 800 mile trip this past weekend, 80 mph most of the time and a lot of Holiday traffic. 2SS M6, we averaged 26.9 on the way. We ran around in downtown Charleston SC all weekend and traffic on the way home was stop and go in some places. Plus I got in it a few times. Average for the trip 24.5. I'm happy. We had a 2015 GMC Terrain V6 AWD that never broke 20 on the same trip. My wife asks, Does this car really get that much better mileage than the Terrain? She couldn't believe it.
