2013 Camaro ZL1 Break In

Hi I am new here and just bought my first Camero today that is a 2013 ZL1 fully loaded. I wanted to know what the engine and disc break mileage is. I know there is a section for this but could not find it.

Thank you

OK #1 learn how to spell Camaro. No e even in Canada eh? Seriously though. As a happy broken in 2012 ZL1 owner I did the breakin per the manual. #1 no aggressive starts or stops, #2 no rpm's above 4000, #3 keep speed below 80mph. Do these 3 things for the first 1500 miles and you are gifted with a correctly broken in 2013 ZL1. These are the factory recommended breakin procedures. People will post how they think you should break it in but this is how Chevy wants you to do it. Welcome

You're correct firecross91, no "e" even in Canada...

Hey Zed. If you are interested in track days after you breakin your ZL1 keep your eye out for posts from me. A group of Nissan 370Z guys from Toronto are going to rent a track for a day in June 2013. It will either be Mosport Park or Toronto Motosport Park. Keep checking the Upstate NY Camaro 5 thread here. Planning on free Poutine for the fastest lap LOL.

Drove mine like I stole it. My engine builder said after 2 heat cycles today's engines are pretty much broken in. I did the usuall didn't keep the speed constant or RPMs. Didn't exceed 5,500 rpms and did not go over 120 mph. Other than that I did it by the book

What book LOL As long as Chevy covers anything under warranty you're good. Nothing like the feel of driving a vehicle at the track knowing that the powertrain is covered.

I'll do that fc91, and there may be two of us interested. We are both getting our cars just in time to store them for the winter, but even if we aren't broken in by June, we could come and enjoy the day.
Maybe those of us who weren't so fast could have beer, and watch the winner "enjoy" the poutine.

Good luck. GM will pull the history off the computer if you have a problem and see how you "broke it in". I figure their engineers know more than your mechanic. I spent many years on the line as a tech, unless I built the motor I went by the book.Best wishes to you and the GM warranty guys . Just my 2 cents.

I ran the hell out of mine voided the warranty with headers and supercharger upgrades. Now one month and 2800 miles later I get to rebuild the top end after 15lbs of boost blew the head gasket
