No allocation in Canada

I would like to know why the wait time in Canada is so long, why when there are dealers in the US that have a row of 15 camaro's as i have in seen in some threads and I just got one built that was a sold order placed in march and I ordered one for myself on Nov 20th and the GM rep has no idea when we might get allocation for it. why would a stock order to the US be filled when there are sold orders in Canada that are not filled. hopefully there is someone higher up at GM that can provide the answer to this question.

I am not sure about the validity of the various threads but here in the Metropolitan DC area I have heard of no such dealers with inventory at that level. What I have noticed are dealers with inventory containing significant mark-up....but never more than a couple of cars in stock. Usually marked up over 10K.

My experience... Example my Camaro order on August 31, 2009 is now in transit with an estimated delivery date of December 18, 2009 but purchased at MSRP.

Good luck

Ordered at the beginning of November, was 2nd on the waitlist at the dealer to go through. Mid-November the guy ahead of me went through, but I am still waiting.

You will likely be asked for a down payment though, after I put my order 3 others went behind me. All other dealers around this one had a waitlist 3-7 people deep.

Sounds like the smaller dealer has less sales of TOTAL Chevrolet product and given the formula includes only Chevrolet product sold X the number of Mustang sales in the DMA = LOW ALLOTMENT.

The zone manager should be able to get a dealer trade for one of your $70,000 LTZ Diesels, if he really cared.

Weren't SS models being put into reduced production again? Maybe that is part of the reason. Besides, it is winter time, so you won't be able to drive it anyways.

The biggest thing if you want your car right away is to find a dealer with available allocation. There are lots of dealers in the US with limited allocations too, not just Canada. I agree, there does seem to be some lopsidedness when it comes to US preference. I have seen many dealer online ads with rows of Camaros for sale, it sucks. But my dealer had an allocation, I just ordered on Nov 20th, my car arrived two days ago! I got my car in 25 days!!! I can be done!

It may not be fair, but it's smart business. Basically, the dealerships that have proven themselves by selling alot of units, will get allocated more units. Alot of the dealers who were marking up the price on the Camaro for example, had the Camaro in there inventory for a longer period of time. Why would GM give more Camaro's to a dealership that has had a Camaro on their lot for 2 months, more Camaro's when their are dealerships that are selling them within 3 days of arriving. It's like being a coach. Would you Handicap your star players?

the problem is when they are manually allocated, it may come down to who ever has the best relationship with the distribution manager or what area rep has the best relationship with the distribution manager ,it should be more a turn and earn, sell one get one that way you wont get the dealer trying to rip people off by charging over msrp.
