1500 Mile Conspriracy
A lot of threads state the car will change performance after 1500 miles. I know computer software is capable of changing performance curves based on mileage but has anyone proven the Camaro computer is programed this way?
Do we have any GM engineers on the site that can respond?

I went over 1500 in the past week. I couldn't really notice a big bang in power. I just feel more secure about stepping on it. I wonder if this is psychological. The car has been gradually running better and better, but not that much better where you would say wow!!

The Owner's Manual states that launch control mode for the M6 is disabled until you reach 1,500 miles.

It might be more of a gradual change, increasing spark advance as mileage increases, maxing out at some point.
I do know that the 4th gen F-bodys consistently made more power on the dyno at 2000 miles than they did at 500 miles. I would expect that the 5th gens do the same thing.

mine worked under 1500miles..
i think its less of a big bang.. than a gradual increase in power as the engine breaks in .. and 1500 miles is the threshhold where engine should be at max break in power.. |

It has more to do with the motor breaking in. Everything settling and "loosening" up.

I have read other threads on this topic and was very skeptical to say the least. But just the other day my car hit 1500 miles and it certainly did seem more powerful. I was taking off from a stop sign making a left (TC off) got on it and lost her sideways. Pre 1500 miles that same take off would not have even spun the wheels. I don't know maybe it is in my head but this car seems to be pulling harder.

there is a slight placebo effect with the 1500 mile mentality. however, there is also some truth to the engine/ecu "breaking in" after 1500 miles.
