Ignition recall

Did anyone else get the same message from GM regarding a new round of recalls for the ignition switch? Im 5.6, i really doubt my knees will be bumping anything

YOUR VEHICLE INFORMATION:
KEY ROTATION SAFETY RECALL

Your 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is affected by the Key Rotation Safety Recall. There is a risk, under certain conditions, that some drivers may bump the ignition key with their knee and unintentionally move the key away from the "run" position. If this occurs, engine power and power braking will be affected, and power steering may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash. If the ignition switch is not in the run position, the airbags may not deploy if your vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury or fatality. Schedule your FREE repair now – your safety depends on it! To learn more about this recall, watch this video.

They’ve been tracking me down for almost 6 years now. I’m expecting a bounty hunter any day now.

free repair is taking you blade off your fob and giveing you a key ring (not even a cool keychain for your trouble)and a conventional key,the key recall is stupid ya still need the fob for the transponder......a heater core/blend door recall would have been sweet!!!

A AFM recall would of been better

They told me they would inform me of "additional" maintenance needed for my vehicle, given how they supposedly did a brake job before i picked it up but the brake fluid in container was the color of coffee and fluid only wept out of the outside bleeder when i was bleeding after installing the SS hose kit on all 4 calipers i really dont trust them to do anything else than whatever is free.

They found me after moving from TX to NV. I get emails, texts, snail mail and phone calls. I ignore them all.

So the cylinder is Not getting replaced but rather the key itself? The way its worded seems as if the ignition is the problem. Those warranty calls i ignore them, i used to get them back when all i had was a 91 Honda with 427000 miles and warranty looooooooooooooong expired.

I got the recall done then purchased two blank blades with pins off from eBay. My local GM dealership cut the keys for me once I gave him the key code. Installed each into the FOBs and hung the keys up in the garage! Easy and no calls.

Apparently you can there is a waiver you can sign to not get it done, i went out and tried every which way i can drive and i cannot tap the key with my knee before my leg hits the wheel first therefore i am opting out not to mention that i tried hitting the key multiple times to see if it would shut off and it never did. I do not think the callers are about recalls but just robo calls to get saps to sign up for extended warranty which is not the same thing, the dealer i purchased the car from tried to be sly and add a $4,000 extended warranty to my car along with a $3800 paint protection package which damn near doubled my car price.

Still getting snail mail for this. Both for the previous LT2 and the SS. My DD has a blade and is way closer to my leg than the Camaro. Never here a thing from that manufacturer.

Best solution:
Take only ONE key to the dealer and let them perform your recall. They will have to give you your original keyblade back in its new rubber handle, along with your original fob (missing its keyblade). On top of that, they have to make sure you have a 2nd key (at least this is what happened in my situation)

So you get home with 2 non-fob keys, and one fob with no key. You cut out the key blade from one of the non-fob keys, get a lockpin from homedepot for 5 cents and BAM you've got yourself your original keyfob with blade.

Why do this?
1) no more harrassment
2) free spare key

Just make sure you don't take both keys with you, and that they'll do this.
