Maybe on the next go around, we'll see a modernized retro version of the 2nd gen. I've always regarded the 2nd gen as the no compromise designer's car where they finally were able to get that low cowl section that had originally wanted on the 1st gen. I think a 7th gen emulating the style of the 2nd gen F-body would be a smash hit like the 5th gen was.

When articles started coming out in the car magazines I was so excited I started saving for the new Camaro n when I saw the concept at the New York Auto show I couldn't wait to buy one. My Camaro will be seven years old next month n I still love it!!!
I really enjoyed going up to Canada to meet you Scott, and some of the other members of the Camaro team. You guys were like rock stars! LOL I also really enjoyed the plant tour. The technology at the plant was amazing n it was great seeing all the dedicated employees making our dream cars in person. |

Good picture! Question, if you know. Who helped with the decision to put the new Camaro in the First Transformers movie? Was it the Director Michael Bay, Spielberg?
That was brilliant! I remember watching it for the first time with my son. He said "Dad, that is the coolest car I've ever seen" I had to agree with him. What a way to bring old school and new together. When that music played and the Camaro stopped, thousands were sold instantly I guarantee it!! What a great car. Thank you

If I remember correctly wasn't there a leak of the the concept like a month or so before the official debut at NAIAS? I seem to remember a pic of a silver clay mock-up...

It was a bad security breach, it was a violation of trust, and it exposed several models which weren't accurate. I think 3 or 4 people lost their jobs over it.

Book
While it's not a book by Fbodfather, this book is a great Camaro read I can vouch for. A good friend was the editor and sent me a copy when I ordered my R6P car in 2009.

It was a real pleasure meeting you Scott (in 2012). Hope you're enjoying retirement.

Took me 30+ years to discover "my car" to go along with my wife of 33 years and my motorcycle of 20. I grew up with the Camaro in the back ground of my consciousness. Think I might have been 5 or 6 when the 1st gens hit the streets. Always liked them. 2nd, 3rd and 4th gens, not so much. As many others, my first view of the 5th gen was the concept used in that first Transformers movie and I was hooked. Moderned up 1st Gen was what I thought then and still do. Still had a relatively young family back then and went through several family oriented cars, although never a mini van or SUV. Got the kids out of college and watched the development of the 5th gens and the blue shade on the 2015s was the color I wanted. Caught one up for sale at a local dealer and while that LS model didn't have the mylink in it, the dealer found a 1LT in another state that did and brought it down for me. Been driving it ever since. While not necessarily helpful from a manufacturers standpoint, I plan to drive this until I die and it can go to my son or one of my grandsons. If things work out the way I intend, I'll make some moderate changes to the car to make it more uniquely mine.
Thanks to fbodfather and the entire 5th Generation Camaro crew for getting this built, however long it took. Last edited by Dragonman; 01-11-2017 at 11:41 AM. |
