E-85 on stock fuel system
Hey y’all, just got my camaro back from the transmission shop after replacing the tcm, unfortunately they couldn’t program my current tune onto it so I’m forced to head over to my tuner to get a retune.
Got one heck of a deal on a dsx flex fuel kit and am wondering if I can just throw it on, get it tuned and have no problem, making 445whp currently with a tsp stage 2 cam, bolt ons, thru a 4400 circle d converter, built trans and 3.91 gears, not planning on doing any more mods for quite awhile I know I won’t pick up much In terms of performance but I got such a good deal on this sensor and my tuner does the flex fuel tuned for pretty cheap

I am making about 460rwhp but I am on a zl1 pump and 85lb injectors.
I would think you could do it with factory ss pump and injectors but the duty cycle would be A LOT higher. Tuner should be able to tell you.I picked up 3 rwftlbs and 9rwhp with my setup. Most of the gain seemed to be under the curve. Average hp and torque and throttle response seems more aggressive to me. Especially the hotter it is outside. Seems to work even better. Gas mileage isn't that much worse imo than 93 and cost is a wash pretty much. I have a 3200 stall and 3.73s and my average gas mileage is not much worse if at all but I bet the stall and gear makes the gas mileage worse regardless.3.50 for premium and 2.74 for e85. E85 smells way better! It is a stronger smell(like alcohol)but doesn't smell half as bad as 93, less smog smell but e85 is noxious. As soon as I pull in the garage I turn the car off and as soon as I turn it on I back out. Very strong while even garage door is open but sitting on the driveway it is way better. Wife loves it over 93.lol |

As for fuel lines you should be fine. All the talk of e85 being harmful is overblown. Besides injectors and pump with the dsx fuel kit my fuel system and lines are stock. Now if you let your car sit a long time without starting then maybe e85 could be more corrosive but I only run 1/4-1/2 tank at a time and I drive my camaro at least once a week. If it sits a long time or I am gone for a few weeks fill it up with some 93 or mix the 2 but I know several on corn and they have never had a problem. Computer automatically recognizes the increased octane with corn and transitions between the two. In the cold e85 can be a little harder to start but in summer fires right up.
What is great about it is you now have 2 fuels that work with a high performance tune, smells better, slight power increase( 11.5-12.1 is where it would really start to shine, hence LT1gains.) Only other thing I can say is that you should check your oil often regardless but e85 can dilute your engine oil some but I only put maybe 5k a year at most on my car. Oil is changed every 10-12 months regardless but at about 2k miles and 3 months it looks the same as 93. |

Perfect thank y’all, gonna send it and see what happens
My car is a daily, drive it a good bit every day. Cant wait to see what it picks up when I decide I’m bored with the car and mill the heads a crazy amount and go past 12:1 compression Cant wait to smell that corn

You at least need injectors and likely at least a zl1 pump

I upgraded injectors. I was told I'd run out of injector going to E85.
