Trouble with Long Tube Header Install

Hey guys,

Installed the headers today and everything went fine, but when I loaded my tune up and started to drive the car whenever I was on the highway and trying to give the car gas it started to like surge and struggle to accelerate?

Whenever I try and floor the vehicle the car doesn't want to accelerate and struggles in the power band. Its kind of hard to explain. I loaded the stock tune back in and the car is still doing it and I unhooked the battery for 30 minutes.

Any idea on what it could be? Also the stability control said it needed to be serviced twice. Very odd.

**OUTCOME**

Alright guys, I picked it up from the dealership about an hour ago. They plugged their scanner up to the OBII port and found out the car was misfiring on cylinder #3. They pulled the plug and noticed it had a small fracture in it causing the misfire. They put a new spark plug in and the car runs and drives like normal! We must have accidentally hit it when installing or removing the headers, glad this is finally resolved and it was nothing serious.

Thank you to everyone for the help!

Loose ground wire. Are you sure you didn't remove the engine ground strap and forget to tighten it well when finishing up install. Only other wires to touch would have been the O2's. Check all your wires.

We did take the ground on the passenger side of the block off, but I just went in my garage and checked and the wires are on there solid. My headers did not come with rear downstream o2 sensor bugs, so I did not connect anything to my rear o2 connectors, will that do anything??

I feel like its something simple that I am missing and I dont know what it could be. Its driving me nuts.

I made sure all the spark plug boots are on there solid, I will pull them off and check to see if one of them got damaged in the install? We did not remove them.

The odd part is I have no engine light on at all. On thing I have seen twice is the stability control service light come it

Did you remove the spark plugs when you installed the headers? If not, you have cracked a spark plug. Or two.

I did not remove them. I am thinking the same thing, its a minor misfire or the spark plug got damaged and is not doing what is supposed to.

Still no engine light for the misfire or anything.

Car is currently at the dealership, I took my service rep for a ride and showed him the issue. He thinks the same thing as us, something wrong with the plug wires or spark plugs which is causing the stability track to turn on and act weird.

When I was taking him for a ride the car did not always "surge" or prevent it from accelerating. It did it 3 out of the 5 times I got on it.

My supercharger also needs to be replaced again so he is going to take care of that for me too.

I will keep this thread updated. Wish me luck!

I think a spark plug is cracked or something. I checked them visually but did not pull them out.

Some of the things I have read/researched are saying that when engines misfire it can cause the stability control to act up.
