Long tube headers with rear o2 sensors ?

Has anyone installed long tube headers and installed a reducer behind the cat with o2 sensors ? I’ve heard some say the o2 sensors would be too far back to read properly but should that be an issue if the o2 sensors are heated ?

you can adjust those settings with a tune. no need to add reducers or o2 sensor simulator

Plenty of mail order tune places that can set you up with a tune to remove those rear 02 sensors since they aren't needed.

+1

We turn them off before we even start the car. They don't have any real purpose.

plenty of places that can do a tune for ya. check with vendors here, hp tuners forum, efi live forum, or even ls1tech

what headers did you install? the rear sensors should be tuned out, and the front o2 sensor settings will need to be adjusted for the increased distance from the exhaust ports.

That's a rather silly comment. They're there to ensure the stock cat is functioning correctly as part of the OEM emissions system to meet federal standards. It's just tuned cars looking for max hp don't care.

There is literally no reason to have the rear sensors if you don't have cats.

I still do have cats, a mustang guy already told me to take them off cause they create too much backpressure 😂. It’s super loud already even with cats, I get looks from cops a lot and have to baby the throttle

So I’ve been going back and forth with this tuner in town for a week. Now he tells me he can’t do anything for me unless I have rear o2s, and told me to go to an exhaust shop and have some bungs installed. What’s the point of the tune if I have rear o2s ?

My Kooks cats had O2 ports already in them but I would imagine that if you had the bungs welded in a few inches downstream it would be fine. I had PatG do remote tuning on my car and he did a good job FYI. https://www.guerragroup.com/efi-tuning

did you ever get a tune after or have any issues passing smog ? i mean if i put rear o2s on kinda defeats getting a tune minus performance wise

I got a tune directly after installing the headers and hi flow cats. I live in Ohio and must get an E-Check. I did pass it because in the tuning software they turn off the codes that report issues from headers and hi flow cats. Installing rear O2's does not defeat getting a tune at all. It may help the tuner with dealing with all of the codes/issues assostated with just deleating them.
