Tail light conversion?
I have done a search and can't find any pertinent threads so please don't troll me about doing a search before asking.
Does anyone know what might be involved in putting 2015 tail lights on a 2010-2013? I know anything is possible with metalwork, etc. but I'm wondering if the rear body panels have the same overall shape and can change the rear panel and tail lights with OEM part numbers? I like the grill and look of the front end as they are more reminiscent of the first gen. And to me, the 2014-2015 tail lights have that first gen retro look far more than the 2010-2013 lights which in no way remind one of that look. |

There was a thread on here about a week ago where someone did it and posted pics.

I wouldn’t swap 2014-2015 style onto a 2010-2013, if you want a 2014-2015 then you should just buy one of those. Rather than buying a 10-13 and converting it.

Thanks Leo and 10CamaroDude for actual answers, I really appreciate it! LSxDoctor, I swear I did a search using every key word I could think of and got a few hits but none involved this type of conversion. And I hope BluePhoenix, you missed that I never said I wanted a 2014-15 car, only the look of the tail lights to couple with the front end of the 2010-2013 because each of those, to me, embody the essence of the 1st gen cars the best. Sometimes it's about having the car you envision and want, not what the factory produces. If that weren't the case, there would be no mods listed in signatures...

And if you want L.E.D. tail lights you need a conversion harness from DIY5. I did the same swap you are speaking of a couple years ago and am now switching back to stock in preparation to sell the car

It's not difficult doing it yourself. Price was depends on what deals you can find, you can expect to spend close to $100 - $150 for the harness. Gen5Diy can probably sell you everything together, otherwise everything other than the dealer OEM parts. Unless you want aftermarket but I would advise against aftermarket bumpers

2013 Camaro Tailight Conversion
Quote:
Ive liked the look of the 2013 rear end for sometime, didn't wanna try and going for the entire 2014 rear end conversion just for the tailights. Going to see if its possible to rework the 2013 bumper to fit the 2014 lights. Ive got an extra bumper to try and work my way around does not seem like a daunting task, will post pictures about my journey and getting them converted |
