where to buy - 1st gen

I'm looking for a 1st gen Camaro but the only place that i keep going to look for them is eBay and that seems like the wrong place. Where do you guys suggest i look? Obviously this forum is a good source - but any other ideas is appreciated. I'm after something sub 20K - and it's fine if it requires some work.

I should also mention - i don't care if numbers match, or where the car is located.

craigslist might be an option,
http://www.autotraderclassics.com
http://www.oldride.com

Google "muscle car for sale" tons of online stuff
The biggest thing is to give it a good look in person before buying and don't get into a rush..

eBay and the bigger car auctions like BJ. The prices have come down a bit. Expect to pay at least $30k for a decent example.

I just bought a '68 from Legends Specialty Vehicles. The guys name is Gary and he's awesome to work with. He has a nice inventory on hand and the cars are priced right. These cars are not high priced show quality cars. They are driver quality....not perfect in every aspect. They are the kind of cars that you can drive around and not be afraid to do so. If your looking to restore a car to perfect condition, these cars are ones you could start with and not have to spend thousands doing so. The web site is www.legendsspecialtyvehicles.com

I just went and saw both these cars in person and both are very nice. Paint is awesome and they are rust free and run great. The guys name is Mike and he seems very straight up.

I have been looking and lurking on 1st Gens for a long time trying to figure condition/Money. I had two 1st Gen Z's long ago

Those two cars appear to be nice and priced reasonably. I would venture that they are negotiable too. I seriously doubt the big block is real for that money, but I would not care in this case. It appears to be nicely done

Neither car is REAL in terms of numbers match and all that. I am personally over all that Numbers Match stuff. I just sold a 67 Corvette L79 numbers car and happy about the sale. It's too much to keep up with and too much stress driving such valuable cars. I do this for fun, so resto rods are starting to be my personal favorite for driving. I just picked up a 69 454 car that is a knockout. Could care less about numbers on this one...

Good luck in your search...

Thanks for the info. I too agree on the numbers thing. I'd like a good solid car that I can drive

Yep, I SPECIFICALLY looked for a non numbers matching car when I bought my RS/SS. I'm driving mine.

Honestly, If I had to do over, I would have bought a car with an LS motor rather than the 383 I have now...
