I have a 2012 2SS RS and bought the OE brace from GMpartsdirect on eBay for $150 shipped and it came with the bolts and took about 10 minutes to install.
Before this a guy at work with a 2012 1SS RS wanted a brace and went to the dealership to get one but couldn't find it in the catalog so he got the brace for the ZL1. After making a jig to keep the mounts in the proper place, cut it down and rewelded it to prevent the interference with the hood (a ZL1 brace is taller and will not fit under the stock SS hood). He was pretty proud of it until I told him about mine. If they had looked up the part number for the convertible brace he would have been done in 10 minutes but it would have been more expensive coming from the dealership. |

Here's mine, it's a Hotchkis brace that was black when I got and I had it stripped and powder coated red.

Two different part#s
I got a response from GM parts on this. They are basically identical in every way. The only difference is that 23120485 is being sold by Chevy Performance Parts division, which is a separate division from GM Parts and often sells Performance Parts at reduced prices. But they are exactly the same and both come with the mounting bolts. So save yourself $30 and go with the 23120485 - PARTS PKG: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...umber=23120485

I have been thinking of getting the BMR STB016 and getting it chromed, but it costs more than the 1LE brace, would cost more to chrome it and would cost more to have it installed. But now having to buy an adapter kit, and the cost of installation will be the same. I just may rethink my idea of the BMR STB016 and go that way. |

As far as install it is quite a bit harder than the 2 point harnesses. You have to drop the struts and disconnect some other stuff if I remember right. Having a 90 deg drill helped a ton. As far as a difference in performance I don't feel a diff. And I cant say it would be much different from a 2 pt.
