Awesome show. I watched it today with my son who loved it, too. I'd love to see it again. Very exciting to see how it was actually made.

On a milder note, I did rather enjoy the program.

Well, I may not be alone here (or am I?), but I do feel like when compared to otehr UF's, this was a little lacking. Just about every portion was rushed through and not really explained. I know there's too much to show, but like I said, compared to other UF shows, they could have done it. I've seen the Corvette, Porsche and Ferrari UF, and I really enjoyed how they showed how the detail was done. You actually saw someone fitting the leather over the dash, or seat. I remember when they showed how the dash went in first on the camaro. Ok, so who built the dash, what detail went into it. Stuff like that. It just seemed like the other UF's slowed down a bit to really explain what was going on and what care really went into the building of the car.
It's not that I didn't like it, I just feel it was missing that UF spark that the others have.

1) - Each section is built separately on it's own line and merged on the Underbody line. 2) - I believe the process is different due to design, but the basics are the same. |

So I'm a little confused on this "a camaro rolls off the line every minute" statement. Lets so the math, shall we?
60 minutes in a hour. Thats 60 camaros an hour. Lets say the plant isn't producing them 24/7 to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe its open at minimum 12 hours a day, say 5 days a week. 60x12 = 720 camaros a day. At 5 days a week, this is 3,600 camaros a week. Now, 4 weeks in a month (underside of things, once again) leaves us at 14,400 units produced per month. Production went full swing in what, may? May June July August September. My car has a vin# of 47xxx and was built on the week of september 14th. According to their standard, I should have had vin#79xxx. One minute just seems kinda fast Seeing as they claim 8months to get one, this was most likely filmed before they were even being pumped out. However maybe now thats the fact? |
