So how does one know it's against policy?
In the warranty booklet I think it discusses any alteration to the computer system voids the warranty.

There is a fee I believe of $15,000 in VA if the dealer passes a car through the GM certified inspection if it indeed had tuning issues before the original owner took place.

i find that most places where i've traded in cars have a no questions asked policy.

once i traded in a ford explorer with a major trans problem. it couldnt shift up past 3rd gear. the guy who took the trade in said he had some wholesaler who would get rid of it. i felt guilty but he said not to worry.

he must have been making too much on the new car i was buying from him!

because you OM doesn't deal with the warranty one way or the other. there is other documentation that address that. you should have recieved several (at least 3 ) booklets when you bought your car. assuming you bought it new.

We represent a dealer that sold a brand new car to an elderly gentlemen that passed away the next day. No big deal right? Well the guy died in some parking lot and sat all day in the florida sun. Body fluids everywhere. Since the deal hadn't closed, the dealer took possession of the car and resold it. I believe it was decided that disclosing that fact was a good idea to the next purchaser.

They probably wouldnt even know what LT's are. I could see them asking "This car must have one of those racing exahusts. I bet its a flowmaster!"

I just traded a car (completly stock) and the dealer indicated it was going to auction(3) states away within (2) days. That dealer indicated he never will see the car.
