Will a U-Haul auto transport carry the ZL1 with its wide tires? I towed an Impala across country with one and it handled like a dream. I think those things are over engineered personally. What are your thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing. Going to trailer mine to Texas for the Fest....My tires are going to be wider though.

I towed a 2SS with a uhaul trailer and it had plenty of clearance on the sides. Where you will have the problem is the front lip. You have to place boards on the front of the trailer to get it to clear the front tire stops. There are videos on Youtube on how to load it and what size boards to get.

I have hauled cars thousands of miles. Before I bought my current car trailer, I rented a UHaul to tow a 1967 Olds Culass Station wagon 100 miles (4000 lb car like a camaro). It was a nightmare! Over engineered, no way, Overbuilt, very much so! Surge brakes are horrible. The weight placement is all wrong unless you are towing with a 1 ton or larger truck. I almost got into a huge wreck on the interstate because the weight was so out of whack it started wagging and next thing I knew I was going across 3 lanes of a 2 lane highway. Lucky I started to go uphill again and it straightened itself out. 40 mph going downhill was too fast before the wagging would start again. I will never ever rent one of those things again! Soon after I bought a JB enterprises full steel deck car trailer(1994) and towed it all over the US with no problems! I wore out 2 sets of tires on that trailer and still have it going strong! I would drive my ZL1 in calcium chloride soaked slush before loading it on a UHaul! Just for info, my tow vehicle was a 1970 442 W-30 with a reese hitch (which are rated for class 2 towing from the factory). Towed tractors and all sorts of trucks and other equipment with that car and the new trailer with no problems. Don't wreck your car with a UHaul! Either drive it, or buy a good trailer! At least find someone who will let you borrow a good trailer!

FYI, i towed mine with an Escalade ESV and i had no problems at all. I towed from VA to TX and back.

Yes you'll be fine. I towed mine on a trailer with 315's in the rear

Towed my blazer ss across country from cali to Ohio not to big of a problem except when it got a little windy than had to slow down

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra to do the pulling. Need something to load the car on. I have nowhere to stow a auto trailer full time which is why I've never bought one. But wow I didn't know the U-Haul transport had those types of problems. I towed an Impala from here to Cali on one at speeds of 80 mph without a moment's trouble.

Why don't you rent a trailer locally and give it a test pull? I think you can rent one for about 30 bucks a day. load you ZL1 up and pull around on a highway and see what you think. I've only used them behind a U haul truck, so I cannot say how it will handle behind your Pickup...

U-Haul would not rent me a trailer back in 2011 when I called to trailer my Camaro when I moved from Chicago to Dallas.

I just did a U-Haul auto hauler from FL to SC and it was pretty hairy. The loading and unloading is very difficult with the low clearance, plus I would suggest putting a piece of wood under where the front tires will eventually end up or your front end is in danger of being messed up from the wheel stops at the front of the trailer. All in all. I wouldn't do it again. I got a way without any damage but it was close in so many ways. I actually took the front wheel stops off of the trailer. This was a lot easier than watching the front end of my car get ripped off going on and off the trailer.
