2010 SS A/C Noise - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey all.

I recently noticed that my air conditioning is underperforming. The compressor is engaging and spinning. However, it’s very noisy. There’s also an evident hiss that can be heard from inside the cabin. The compressor noise fluctuates with RPM, but the hiss sound is constant.

If you’d like to take a listen, click the link below. It only hisses when the A/C is on and it doesn’t do it when the heat is blowing. Any ideas on what the issue can be? This is the first time I’ve heard a hiss like this.

It's low on refrigerant

Mine sounds like that to. Except when I first turn the ac on theres a short bird scream noise and a hum that goes with the engine rpm's. That's just low refrigerant?

That bird screaming noise sounds like you might have a blower motor getting ready to die.
