In my old Accord the only way to tune those engines was to run two ECU's. There was a company who made a harness, and then people started creating them. It worked pretty well but it was kinda ghetto looking unless you took the time to hide everything properly and neatly. Can't wait for you to get this running!

Thanks for the info. Trying a few different setups. If they don't work I'll run the Holley computer and harness. |

Please be patient. You are so close and I believe this will work if you get a tuner that knows what he's doing. You are at a point where the easy part is completed and uncharted territory has to be understood. It may take a while to figure this part out but you are close. Don't throw tbe towel in prematurely. I encourage you to forge ahead. If this was easy, it would have been done long ago. Communications and tuning is all that remains. Anything is possible! Good luck and slow down. I know you are anxious. Great job, so far.

Your are right on time. I needed that. You guys won't believe that my tuner is TJ the first employee of Hypertech. Really cool guy. I'm lucky to work with him. |

Seems to me that what your up against at this stage is not so much the tune itself, but communication and proper signal to and from every sensor or module that will command or deliver data. If you nail that down tuning should be a breeze.

You are very correct. He's working on the programming for communication and I'm getting ready to plan out a harness that would run two ECM's I have all three harnesses to work with. |

Still letting the tuner work his part. He's been communicating with the person that made whatever program he's using. I'll find that out tomorrow. He's not yet working on communications of the ECM and BCM, but still trying to figure out writing to the ECM. The program he's using, he uses on his racers. So what happened was his computer pulled the OS off and turned the VATS off automatically and asked if we wanted to reload the OS. He received a communication error because the #7 OS was a mismatch. This is not going through the OBD2 but direct connection to ECM.
He's spoken with the technician about that and have some things to work through tomorrow morning. So I'm just patiently waiting until he either gets it done his way or gives up. Then we will try my way. L99/TR6060 1LS swap in the making. |

He probably should be able to figure his procedure out but it may take time. I might suggest that you find a Camaro with the proper engine ( borrow or rent one) and install a new (non-programmed) ECM into it, download the base program via ODB2 port with it's VIN, remove the ECM from the rented Camaro, install it into your vehicle and change the VIN to match your VIN, disable VATS and I believe this may possibly get you to the next step. This is only a possible suggestion that might work. I have been learning with my LFX to LLT conversion. Just another thought.

Ok everyone with the VATS turned off on the ECM's neither cranked the car and the VIN matches on both. When I turn the key the fuel pump kicks in and there are some mechanical happening around the intake or throttle body.
Does the VATS on the BCM need to be disabled? I'm thinking about the security pin for the network might need to be loaded on ECM as well. Any other suggestions? L99/TR6060 1LS swap in the making. |
