Possibly because at first dealers jacked up the prices on them and got more allocations, bought them thinking they were cash cows, and now are stuck with them. By temporarily locking out orders, people that REALLY want a 2014 ZL1 may not be able to wait (I want it right now mentality) and they'll cave and buy a leftover '13. I got a feeling it's inventory management.

Good strategic move by GM to put orders on hold, IMO.
Could not agree more with what you just said. 2013 ZL1's were mass-produced like hotcakes. Still compared to Gt500 ZL1 Camaro has lower production numbers then most of the Gt500's. I took a look at this ZL1 registry and looks to be well put together website. I wonder if GM owns it or not and should be a great outlet for everyone the older the car gets. As far as the taillights concern I think GM did ok but they should have not wrapped the corner with the taillight. This giving it a Honda like feel. If they can just fix that for 2015 I think they will sell a lot more and go out with a bang with the 5th gen. Or please someone make a piece to snap onto that corner to make it blend into the body line better. Sorry just my 2 cents not trying to slamm anyone's car. I have seen polls all over the web and it looks it's 70/30 in dislike on the new lights. So yea they need to fix them...

2014 ZL1 numbers will definitely be down.Looked at the new stingray to get all the same options it was hitting $75000.00. I don't know about the states but in Canada they are limiting the numbers, so it will be back to price gouging about 10k over sticker. I also looked at getting a new 2SS. Option it up towards the ZL1 and hits the $54000.00 mark and still doesn't have the power or suspension. I personally love the tail lights and believe by far the ZL1 is the best bang for your buck. Bonus to me is there won't be many 2014 ZL1's around here.

It will be interesting to see the final number count on the '14 ZL1. IMO it doesn't seem like the '14s will be scarce, as I ran into a handful of them when I was price shopping for mine.

The ZL1 is a hell of a car and it will mark an exciting period in Camaro and Chevrolet history; Producing an exciting and powerful automobile that excels in performance and Bang For The Buck features.

Would my dealer know when the builds will resume for this car? My 2010 is paid off in May. I was considering upgrading to the ZL1. Is this a good choice or should I wait for Z28 pricing? Thanks

You got $80 or $90 grand? Because with the z28 price (unknown) and dealer markup and limited availability it's going to be far more than you can get a load ZL1.

Again, it is only a temporary suspension that does not impact the Camaro LS, LT and SS models ordered without 1LE.

Order processing for the 2014 Camaro ZL1 and the SS Performance Package (RPO: 1LE) will resume on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.

The suspension of ordering will impact Camaro production from January 2014 to March 2014. It is expected any ZL1 or SS models with the Performance Package (RPO: 1LE) produced through December 2013 will be shipped to dealers.

The other ordering issue involves the 2014 Camaro Convertible beige top (RPO: 67T). The beige convertible top will end production for the 2014 model year during the month of January 2014 -- due to our Camaro Spring Edition Package that will go into production then. The last opportunity for dealers to submit orders for convertibles with the beige top (RPO: 67T) will be the Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) cycle that starts Thursday, December 5, 2013 and concludes Tuesday, December 10. 2013 -- therefore -- if you desire a 2014 Camaro with a Beige convertible top - you need to visit your dealer immediately to place your order.

The end of beige top production does not impact the availability of the black top (RPO: 19T). As a reminder, the recently announced 2014 Camaro Spring Special edition, when ordered with a convertible model, will include a blue convertible top.

GM has already stated several times that the Z/28 will be the most expensive of all the Camaro models, plus, it's designed for road course use so it would ride a bit harshly on the street.

get the ZL1. Try one, you'll understand.

Probably a stupid question but How do you tell what production number your ZL1 is?
