Borla Atak vs Corsa Xtreme

I know this has been talked about; however, I have a slightly different interest in the decision.

I purchased my Cold Air Inductions CAI and SCT Tuner from JRE and was very happy with the results and service.

I had grown fond of the Borla Atak sound while exploring my options; however, I would like to take advantage of the free tune from JRE so may lean towards the Corsa. They also come with Black Tips which I think I would like to get as well. I am sure I could find black tips with the Borla as well, but would be something else to buy.

I am also entertaining a new Throttle Body. Would that be a good addition to make, or is it worth the upgrade, with my current setup.

So the Corsa XTreme sounds pretty good from clips just like the Borla Atak do. Not sure how much is lost with recordings. I want minimal drone and loud growl that I think both systems would provide.

Just hoping to get some extra feedback to help with my decision.

I plan on getting Long Tubes, & high-flow cats in the distant future.

Ive heard both in person on a new Camaro and also on a new vette. Corsa sounds much better to me and you won't have drone with Corsa. It really comes down to personal preference though.

I agree with Motorhead. Its such a personnal choice. I recently went Corsa....with this sytem I have found all the noise is out the back of the car.It has zero drone. It really soubds good and I have longtubes on order so I cant wait. Both Borla and Corsa owners live their systems . So you really can go wrong with either. My Corsa Extreme system is 3 inch.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah that is one thing I have heard about Borla, is there is a bit of drone. I imagine that may get to me. I wonder if that is related to AFM, and if so with that turned out would it be gone?

I also use the paddles while driving most of the time as I hate cruising when the thing is basically idling. I like to keep it between 2-3k, so perhaps the would help with drone as well.

The tips on the Corsa seem to match the stock ones' look as the Borla seem to be straight pipe where the Corsa has a bit of a flaring to it which I like. Not to mention the Black tips which I think would be perfect for my car. Just the Atak seem to be almost like a muffler delete as there isn't much of a muffler there.

Do both systems offer pretty much the same design/setup for the cat back to the muffler? They both seem to be X systems that get right of that stock diffusers or whatever the shield box is where the two pipes run together.

Need to find some in person, as I am not sure how reliable the Youtube videos are. They both sound real good and probably couldn't go wrong with either. So to get the added tune may be worth while.

I've got the Corsa Xtreme. It is plenty loud with longtubes and no cats. I'm also cammed. It's the loudest exhaust I've heard for the 5th gen when you get on it. But surprisingly, no drone. If I'm not getting drone, you won't either. It sounds amazing too. Borla doesn't sound bad but I definitely think Corsa is the way to go.

Hey Gunmetal! Yeah I am subbed to your channel! (SS Sandman on YT) Yours is one of the reasons I am leaning towards the Corsa now. That and to get the free updated tune. I will only be a CAI and then the exhaust I go with. I guess an updated tune would be helpful.
Headers are a possibility in the future and who knows what else. It is my daily, so don't want to go to drastic. Thought about axle back, but figure a full cat back would be a cleaner swap and be good once I get headers & hi-flow cats.

Did you put a throttle body on yours? My buddy said his shop had problems with the one he bought years back and he went back to the stock one. He isn't sure what brand it was.

You wont be disappointed with your choice. I have a Vmax ported throttlebody with zero problems. Heres my Corsa Extreme with shorty headers and hi flow cats. My longtubes will be in soon. Cant wait to hear the difference.

Oh nice! Thanks for the support

And I do have a throttle body, swapped mine out for a Bo White ported TB at Camaro Fest this past year, has worked great! I did have to get a tune update, it would slowly come down in RPM's when in neutral rather than fall like it was supposed to due to the added airflow. Easy fix and the improved throttle response is well worth it!

That's good to know. I may look at the TB then. It still has a bit of throttle delay. I am sure whatever I go with Ted will hook me up.
Think we will see how Christmas goes and get an idea on our taxes this year. Hopefully they get something through that helps the bottom line for me

So would that be the best route to go? Cat Back, and then add the Long Tubes and Hi-Flows, or better than other way around? Would like to get the best sound first, so think exhaust would make more sense?

People on here will always recommend start from the front and work back, that way you don't overkill the sound and have to go back and change it up because it's too loud. I always start at the rear though haha I want the sound first, then work on loudness whereas doing it the opposite way achieves loudness first and then desired sound. Then again, I live in an area where the police don't care much and I want as loud as I can get. That's why I have cutouts now. Can't beat the raw sound of what is an open header LS3 essentially

Yeah I figured that is the route I will take as well. I know I want the sound and not 100% if I will get to headers. I think I would rather have the exhaust and stock headers, than headers and stock exhaust. Yeah I think I watched your cutouts video.

Nice thing with the exhaust I can easily do it. Headers and cats will be a bit more involved. Probably still do it when and if I put them on, but definitely take a bit more time. Also, will need to look at what I would want for the tubes and the cats. Pretty much decided on the exhaust.
