2011 Shebly GT-350 vs. New Z28. New Shelby does 0-60 in 3.7 secs.
Everyone keeps saying the new Camaro Z28's competition will be the GT-500 but seeing the new tests with the GT-350 makes me feel the Z28 will have to compete with it and the new GT-500. Motor Trend done a 0-60 in 3.7 and quarter mile in 12 seconds flat in the 2011 GT-350 and that is freaking amazing! With over 525 horsepower, wow! Looks like the Z28 has will have alot of competition. Finally a Ford Mustang that can hook up with over 500 horse power!!! Lets not forget that their is another version that has 625 horse power.

At 63k you can't compare the GT350 to the GT500 or the Z28.

The GT-350 will be a sweet machine, but Sax is right, you can't compare it to the Z.

Completely different price ranges. GT500 w/ light suspension mods will pull the same 0-60 as a GT350. NonSVT-PP GT500's need new tires too. F1's are trash tires.

When street racing and track racing comes to play price range doesn't matter. It doesn't stop people from racing 80 thousand dollar Corvettes against 30 thousand dollar Mustangs. People don't stop and say ''hey want to race and the other person reply ''no man your car costs 20 more grand then mine''
A Z28 will meet one of these at a track or on the street and they will race. |

But coming from the factory you can't compare these vehicles. And if you are going to race you aren't going to keep your vehicle stock anyways. |

On the track it doesn't matter what the $$$ invested is, agreed 100%. However, from a stock vs. stock a la mag comparo you can't compare the GT350 vs. GT500.

I'm just excited Shelby finally made a decent Mustang that can hook from the factory.
They did compare the Challenger SRT against the Mustang GT and Camaro SS and the Challenger cost a good 10 more grand. They also compared a Genesis V6 that cost a good 10 more grand then the Mustang V6 and Camaro v6. Lets not forget the Mustang GT that costs 30 grand less then a BMW M3. I'm not saying the Z28's direct Competition will be the Shelby GT-350, I'm just saying you can compare these two cars together. People are always saying that the CTS-V is faster then the GT-500 and the Z28 is getting the same engine and will be faster so I say the only problem with the current GT-500 is still the tires and it's inability to properly hook up. Considering this GT-350 weighs more, has less horse power and can do a 0-60 in 3.7 and quarter in 12 flat then I imagine the lighter and more horse powered GT-500 can pull a 3.6 and quarter of at least in the high 11's. |

Ok I think it's established that price wise the cars cannot be compared. How about we move past that. Now these cars are at a track/drag strip and the weather is perfect the 3 drivers are twins that are professional drivers and have equal driving capacity... what happens?
Discuss.

Then someone brings along a Super Snake, Z06 Vette, Viper and smokes your HPE650 lol.
Nothing wrong with comparing 500+ horse power cars to each other and that is all I was doing with the GT-350 vs. the Z28 if it ever comes out. The HPE650 has over 600 hp doesn't it? Considering the HPE650 is underated and puts more then what it claims to horse power to the rear wheels. I don't think the Z28 will have over 550 but that is just speculation. Comparing horse power to horsepower is what I'm doing. If the new Z28 has around 550 horse power and I bet money it will weigh more then 4000 pounds then I don't see it being able to out run the GT-350. Also lets not forget that Ford will most likely upgrade the 2012-2013 Shelby GT-500 with possible the same tires that are on the GT-350 or some other mod to compete. So obviously price doesn't matter in my comparison but compare horse power to horse power and can the Z28 out do the GT-350 or GT-500 with comparable horse power despite that it most likely will weigh more then 4000 pounds considering the supercharger, tires, suspension mods and etc. The 2011 GT-500 and GT-350 way less or the same as a regular Camaro SS. So taking that logic in and adding all the stuff to make a Z28, it will go up in pounds. It seems nothing hardly can touch the Z06 Vette though, that sucker is just unreal. |

Ok
i stumbled into the Mustang Forums again! When Ford makes a direct competitor to the Super Vettes.( present tense) I'll consider them a player.....performance on /below par of a 6 year old Z06. SIX YEARS to compete with a Zo6....sad really! 06,07,08,09,10,11 ZO6 Since we are talking above the SS pay grade.....yep i pull the Vette card.. As a GM owner at least i HAVE that option Gt350 i wonder how much Ford dealers will mark that up to!!! today is wednesday....thursday i could have a Z06 at or near invoice in my Driveway. where is the gt350 for sale at??
