how to clean vinyl SS strips
HI gang, quick question.
BTW I'm in Jacksonville FL, have a 2010 orange SS. Ist what do you guys recommend for cleaning and protecting the strips? When I got the car, 2nd owner, it was in great shape except for some light milky residue (wax?) that I cleaned off pretty well and applied a back to black product that worked ok, but not great. The main issue is on only one of the hood strips there appears to be kind of half moon wipes like a swirl that I can not get off, n ideas? Thx, Wayne |

The stripes are vinyl, with no clear coat over top of them. If the vinyl has swirls, holograms, scratches or any marring, it's in the vinyl. I've used Adam's Brilliant Glaze to somewhat hide defects in vinyl stripes, but it won't correct them. I've used Adam's VRT to hide the defects, you need to buff the VRT reside after application to not have streaks after they get wet the next time. I've used several different very soft foam pads by machine set to the slowest speed with a very fine polish to deep clean the vinyl, but it doesn't do much to correct. I've also used Adam's Hand Polish with his Blue Hex Grip Applicator by hand to deep clean the vinyl, but again it doesn't do much to correct.
The vinyl stripe may be it's color the entire way down to the adhesive, or it may have the color on top of white. If you get too aggressive with the color on top of white you'll start to remove the color and begin to see the white underneath.
