I could see painting the edges in the same way the exposed carbon roof has it. It would be one way to differentiate your car from the others.

MY 2014 IS ON ORDER AND I OPTED FOR THE GLASS ROOF,NOT THE BLACK CARBON FIBER. I AM NOT TOO EXCITED ABOUT THE EXTERIOR LOOK OR HOW MUCH LIGHT WILL ACTUALLY COME THROUGH. THAT BEING SAID, I CAN'T CHANGE MY ORDER TO A COLOR MATCHING PANEL AND THER IS NO PRESENT WAY OF ORDERING A COLORED ROOF PANEL ASSY. I BELIEVE THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE ORDERED IS AN UNPAINTED PANEL WITH ALL THE NECESSARY GASKETS, CLAMPS ETC. TO BE ASSEMBLED AND PAINTED BY THE DEALER. ONE ESTIMATE WAS $6.800. SO, I THOUGHT MAYBE I COULD HAVE MY GLASS ROOF (LEXAN) PAINTED. NOT AN EASY TASK. THE BLACK CARBON FIBER ROOF HAS COLORED SIDES JUST OVER THE SIDE WINDOWS WHEREAS MY SMOKED GLASS ROOF PANEL RUNS FROM SIDE TO SIDE.

It would be easiest to give it a little time and see if someone on the forum or locally with the same color car would be up for a trade: their oainted top for your transparent one. Or hold out a bit for the aftermarket to come out with a sun shade for the C7. They have shades that just pop in for all the earlier Corvettes, so it shouldn't be much of a wait for the c7 version.

THANKS. I AM AWARE OF THE SUN SHADES WHICH WILL BE MY LAST RESORT. I STILL REALLY FEEL I WILL NOT LIKE THE OUTSIDE APPEARANCE OF THE GLASS ROOF. I THINK IT INTERRUPTS THE LINES. THIS IS A GREAT FORRUM.

I got two roofs with mine…clear/black tint and exposed carbon fiber… but mine has the torch red sides to match the exterior paint…

I can relate... I have the body-colored cf roof which blends/flows with the painted body lines well, but I also have the transparent roof since I also like the full see-through view from inside especially in the evenings. Hopefully you can find a body-colored roof to purchase or swap. GL!

The clear roof is paintable. I got an estimate of $300.00 to paint yellow stripes as are on the exposed carbon fiber option. This would be the best of both worlds if you like transparency and the esthetic of the body color on the roof edges. I'm thinking about this down the line.

PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT I THOUGHT THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT ROOFS AVAILABLE. THE BODY COLOR MATCH, WHICH I BELIEVE IS CARBON FIBER. THE BLACK CARBON FIBER WHICH IS NOT SEE THROUGH AND HAS BODY COLORED SIDE RAILS. THE BLUE/BLACK SMOKE CLEAR GLASS WHICH IS SEE THROUGH AND IS WHAT I HAVE ORDERED. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PAINTING THE ENTIRE GLASS ROOF THAT I AM GETTING. IS IT POSSIBEL THAT LATER DOWN THE ROAD, AN AFTER MARKET MFG. WOULD BE SUPPLYING THESE ROOFS ?

You are correct, those are the 3 roofs available. While possible, it's unlikely anyone in the aftermarket will make a plain, painted top for the C7. No one does for any of the earlier generations so I would be surprised if they start now. If I were in your situation, I would take the car as ordered, and patiently keep an eye on the various forums, eBay, etc. for a gently used painted top. There are already a number of wrecks out there, so it should be relatively easy to locate a painted top, even if it needs to be painted to match your color. The transparent top will be worth far more as-is, unpainted, especially in a few years when people start wanting to replace their scratched or cracked tops.

As a temporary fix, get some carbon fiber vinyl wrap like DiNoc and cover the glass. That way you can peel it off when you want to.
