As far as the trans, it is an ATI glide.....in all the drag racing we do I only know of 3 racers out of thousands running manual trans in stock or super stock....and thay are amazing, but near impossible to race competively with a manual.
I also know a few super stock stick racers. they always seem to be adjusting the clutch weights. lol. we run power glides, the less shifting the better!

I don't think the 4.0 Whipple is mentioned in GM's parts catalog...I think the Cobra Jets with the 5.0 are using a 2.9 Whipple and running low 9's, but it has been mentioned they will be upgrading them to the 4.0 like the earlier examples of the breed...They will definitely be faster than the COPOs with the bigger blower, because the heads will outshine the LS heads.

But it still amazing these manual guys can run as consistant as they do! Few and far between though.

All our dragsters, roadsters, etc. all run glides. The only ones we dont are the footbrake LS cars.

werelooking for someone wanting to turn their SS into a COPO clone with the same ET's.

So the title says it blew away the competition. Who did it beat and by how much in the class that it's running in?

I think my car is as close to a COPO clone starting with an SS as you can get. Wish I had started with a white body or waited for the COPO as it would have been alot cheaper.

Amen to that. Body in white (can never be titled) is the most affordable way to build a competition drag car.

Used to do the mustangs back in the 5.0 classes.
