5th Gen Stock H-Pipe
So I have been debating on upgrading my stock H-Pipe to an X-pipe, but I was also thinking of just making them both separate (straight, no joining whatsoever). I am looking for a better and louder growl without a set of upgraded headers. Any suggestions?

Do not straight pipe, you will lose backpressure and feel the loss in power/torque. I made that mistake, it sounds way louder but drives like crap. I put in a X pipe and I love it.

The factory cats are the biggest noise restriction. I tried muffler delete then resonator delete with x pipe. Finally happy with headers no cats x pipe flomaster axle back.

Yup.
Doesn't matter how many times you tell people, they will still do their exhaust starting at the rear, lol. As for the mid pipes? Do not go with a true dual setup, you will regret it. An X-pipe is where it's at.

Get mid pipes 10-15rwhp and more sound. Xpipe will gain 0 but might change the sound to a more high pitch note. Stock Hpipe is nice.

X-pipe is the most beneficial for scavenging gases it seems, that is why most catbacks incorporate them. H-pipe sounds better imo though. According to Janetty, the differences are negligible between the two. However, switch to straight pipes with no scavenging isn't recommended for reasons stated above. Get yourself some headers and cats/no cats, and a good catback. Should cure your search for the perfect sound.
If you wanna get crazy, throw a cam on top of that haha

Sorry for bumping an old thread, does the stock H-Pipe have any cats in it? Or are there only two cats in the entire system both in the stock exhaust manifold? Reason I ask is that the SCCA Auto-X rules allow you to change out the exhaust downstream of the last cat only. So I’m trying to figure out if I should be buying an entire cat-back system with an x-pipe or just an axle back system. Can’t find any good pictures of stock Camaro H-Pipes. This would be for a 2015 1LE.
And on that subject any good recommendations for a cat-back that’s light, actually picks up some power and isn’t loud? |

I got the stock mid pipes and honestly the car sounds fine
You're not gonna gain anything by buying mid pipes, and X pipes lose a lot of sound if you like sound
