No, NASCAR never did. The Monkey Carlo, Buick Regal, and 88 were limited to support races. Oldsmobile made the 4-door 88 only so they could be included in NASCAR races. Ford produced the Crown Victoria and a Thunderbird only saw the racetrack as an SCCA entry.

What do you mean by "no, NASCAR never did?" They have been running mainly two doors since 1948. The 52 Hundson Hornet, 1939 Ford coupes just to name two early contenders.
The 1998 Ford Taurus was the first four door approved to be used in the modern era. Chevy runs the Camaro this year. Its a two door of course. If I completely missed what you were driving at with your comment I apologize.

What are you talking about? The Monte Carlo was the winningest car in NASCAR in the 1980’s. Bill Elliot won his title in a T-Bird.

The cars were disguised as 2 doors but the wheelbase was the length of a sedan. 10" longer than the coupes.

No they weren't. You're out of your mind. In the early days they raced the acual street cars with cages in them. Then later they raced the stock sheet metal with race chassises mainly because cars were going to unibody construction instead of frame on body.

Once they moved to full on race chassises they actually shortened the wheelbase. NASCAR mandated many changes to vehicles over the different generations ,and none of which had anything to do with them trying to disguise four doors as two.

Oh and your reason for saying NASCAR was based four doors because of moonshine cars is even funnier seeing how the 40 Ford coupe was the car of choice back in the day for running moonshine. Haha. Ask Junior Johnson who both ran shine and drove NASCARs. He still owns a 40 Ford.

Just finished building my ‘17 M6 SS Sedan. She ran good before but it’s a beast with LSA, BTR PD Cam, 2.55” upper/10% OD pulleys, Kooks 1-7/8” LT. It’s a car that nobody notices until they hear it and do a second look. The ultimate sleeper.

Now that's a machine. They should have offered that from the factory.

No kidding? I learned so much in this thread. I love the SS. If I needed a four door car, I would be all over it.
