Picked up my M&P M2.0 Compact today.
Fantastic gun. Exactly what I was looking for, not as big as my duty weapon, but bigger than my Shield. Only issue: the vendor threw in an upgrade to factory night sights, but the rear sight is waaaay off center drifted left. Going to take it to the range tomorrow to see how big of an issue it is.

Bought another CZ nine the other day...a neglected auction on GB, snagged it for a very good price...too cheap to pass up. Headed to my FFL to get my new P01.
Also grabbed half a dozen mags for cheap on another site....so stocked up on CZ ...for the time being. |

Hey guys, not really a gun enthusiast here but I'd like to change that. I know the basics, nothing too in depth though. Have only shot a couple dozen times with my dad at a range and that is it. Just completed my CCW class and have a Glock 19 gen 5 on the way. I plan to do quite a bit of range time and really know the gun before I start carrying it. Do you guys have any tips or recommendations? For the glock or anything gun related for that matter haha. I want the G19 only as my carry gun, I'd prefer a 1911 but it's a bit too large for me to conceal comfortably, I'm 5'7 and weigh 145lbs haha. Thanks for any input and advice, hope to be stopping by this thread more frequently!

Get a good outside the waist band holster, be safe and don't carry it in the waist band.

Have you shot a Gen 5 Glock? Lots of people complaining the new grip cut out is uncomfortable.

I ran a G19 Gen 5 through an exercise while at Sig Academy. It was a real FBI gun as I borrowed it from an FBI agent. I didn't notice anything odd or uncomfortable about the grip. I rather enjoyed shooting it and would buy one if they brought a G22 5th gen to market as I have to carry a .40 on duty; either a G22 or G23.
Who am I kidding? I'm going to get a G19 5th gen in the near future as 9mm Luger (9x19) is an approved off-duty carry caliber. |

When not at a range: -Dry fire, dry fire, dry fire, dry fire, dry fire. Did I mention dry fire? -Practice presentation from CCW. -Practice reloading with empty mags - no live ammo near you (preferably in another room) -Practice malfunction clearing drills -Practice the above in low light or the dark You will be presently surprised at how these actions will build muscle memory. |

I like Glocks. Had a G31, G21 and a G20. Lots of upgrades, mags everywhere...
But once I got a hold of a M&P .45. Game over. Sold the Glocks and the 20 mags. M&P for the win. Can't wait to shoot a M&P 2.0. Grip is fantastic.

That was me with H&K. Always had Glocks and 1911s (carried a 10mm 1911 daily). Then my wife got a P30S in 9mm and I was hooked. Now I carry an OD Green VP9 (lovingly neutered by the NY Safe Act to a whopping 6+1).

I've owned several glocks over the years one or two probably from each generation...most taken in as trades on stuff at Gun shows, etc. I only seriously thought of a glock 20 yrs back when they came out with the first sub compacts...had a forty. Couldn't warm up to it, so sold it.
Have a G-42 now as a hot weather gun in a pocket rig. I simply can NOT adopt these striker fired /plastic framed guys. The closest I have come to acceptance is the SIG 320 I just sold. I DO have an HK Tactical, which is a polymer frame, but it's a hammer fired DA/SA so it's familiar to me. Tough to teach old dogs new tricks...I am too much of a Traditionalist. If I HAD to adopt a striker fired gun I certainly COULD. But not having TO I just prefer more traditional stuff; 1911's, SIG Legacy guns, revolvers, CZ 75's, etc. I surely admit that the Glocks are reliable and tough weapons. But I'm too much of a fan of REAL steel. Maybe why I bought three CZ's in two months? With a SIG 220, 10mm all steel gun ,thrown in for good measure. |
