Rear Wind Noise

I've seen several threads about wind noise on the convertibles around the windshield - and in them some people have complained about noise coming from the back. I'm getting wind noise from the rear on my 2012 vert - moreso on the right than the left - around the 'C' pillars. Took it to the dealer and they said there was no TSB on it, but they did put a ticket in with GM. Anyone have this issue and get any kind of resolution to it?

I had the same issue only after my first top was replaced, I'm currently having a second 1 put on which hopefully will resolve this issue. It was dead quiet prior to the first replacement, however the replacement top was put on in correctly causing damage to the attachment rails in that area, so hopefully they will get it right this time.

I'd suggest checking the channel/rail near the body of the car behind the rear side window, that's where the damage occurred to the connectors and although not plainly visible, the rails werent holding tightly allowing air to come in and eventually causing the top 2 separate from the frame on that side.

Hope to have mine back in the next few days and will update you with the results

Not specifically wind noise, but I do note more road noise from the right rear of the passenger compartment than the elsewhere. Part of this could be wind noise as well, it's tough to tell. From a totally non-official viewpoint, this does seem pretty common.

If you don't have water leaking in and no "top alignment" issues, you should be good. I hear more "wind noise" from the passenger side C Pillar as do you. I only handwash my 'vert and ALWAYS check for interior dampness afterward.

There is documentation that may pertain to this issue. I would suggest speaking with your dealer and possibly asking them to check through their resources or possibly speaking with our Technical team to make sure they know about this document. If you guys need help getting this resolved or covered let me know.

I actually took it to my dealer a week ago and told them a Chevy Customer Service guy on the forums said there was a TSB. They told me they couldn't find any TSB related to the wind noise issue from the rear - could only find one for a front windshield issue. Where do I go from here?

What you could do is ask them to contact our Tech line and see what they have to say. I know I can see the document but maybe they need a little refresher. Hopefully that helps and they can get some answers for you. Let me know how it goes for you.

I noticed this noise from the right rear at interstate speeds. The sound I hear make me think the rear window is not closed completely. However my wife in the passenger seat heard the noise coming from the left rear not the right. As far as hearing the noise, I think it has to do with the sitting position, you are too close to the window on the driver or passenger side window to hear it on both sides.

I wonder if it has to do with how the rear window seals against the top???

I've also noticed an increased wind noise after my top was replaced. I thought it was coming from the passenger side, but my wife says from her side, it sounds like the driver's side. My daughter sitting in the back says both sides sound the same. I guess it depends on your location. I never intend to be in the passenger seat while this car is rolling, so I may never pin it down.

So I got my new top (#2) put on, picked it up yesterday. The wind noise is still there, significantly less than the last replacement top, which was also allowing humidity in (the attachment rail was broken). However there's definitely a lot more noise than my original ever had. I spoke to the service Rep who denied any knowledge of this "mysterious TSP" and advised this was a "brand new top, its not getting any better!"

So i guess, the noise is a permanent thing for me too. And yes, right rear.

I came into this section to ask the wind noise question.

My friend who recently bought a vert is having wind noise on both sides in the back. She said it sounds like the back windows are down.

She came out of a BMW Z4, which had zero wind noise inside, so she's really worried about this. I hope her Chevy dealer knows how to fix it. She's taking it in this week for a couple of other little things and will ask them about the wind noise as well.

Any word on the TSB?

My dealer nor anyone on here that I've read has found a TSB related to rear wind noise around C pillars; which is where those of us with new tops are hearing it the most.

I read Jeff's comments in this thread and to me he implies there's a TSB for rear wind noise. Apparently the dealer needs to use the right magical combination of letters, numerics, wingdings and deep space celestial object names in the search string to find it, mine has yet to break the code.

Apparently something simple like "Camaro convertible rear wind noise" doesn't find it in the system. I'll call the dealer back and ask if he had caps lock on, maybe its case sensitive....
