Ebay long tube headers?

Hey guys, so down to the point, not everyone has nearly a grand to drop on long tube headers, after looking on ebay i found 200$ long tube headers for a 2010-2011 camaro with these specifications:

Surface finish: chrome polished stainless steel
Header inlet / outlet size (IN) 1-3/4" OD / 2-1/2" OD
Color: metallic
Materials: T-304 Full stainless steel

I guess what i'm asking is, could i get the same Horsepower gain & sound that i'm looking for, for cheaper? If someone could please chime in with actual details about why i should or shouldn't buy these, please do so!

Oh and here is a picture of them: https://imgur.com/gallery/i7JXT

Texas Speeds are a little over $500 and are 1 7/8 vs the 1 3/4 you're talking about. Speed Engineering is popular around here, too

So what would the main difference be, 1 7/8 vs 1 3/4?

Edit looked on texas speed's site, for a v6 their headers are 900_1100

Oh, v6. TSP only makes v8 LTs. I’ve never heard of Speed daddy before. OBX is a cheaper brand that a lot of the v6 guys run. I think they’re in the $400 ballpark

I'm perplexed. In your other thread, you mention that you have BBK long tubes, but you do not want to void your warranty. So, if you have the BBK's, I don't understand why you still want to buy headers.

Anyways, from my experience with the exhaust on my SS, the cats are the choke point. When I installed my HF cats, the sound level AT LEAST doubled. My headers didn't make the car louder, it simply gave the exhaust note a deeper tone. On a V6, I'm not certain how all of this would play out.

As other V6 owners mentioned on your other thread, with a V6...sometimes less is more. There is nothing you can do to make it sound like a V8 and making a V6 louder isn't always a good idea. The exhaust note can quickly become something that is very intolerable and unpleasant.

If you're still dead set on headers, save your money and buy a product with a good reputation. These "Ebay specials" have a good chance of being complete and utter garbage. "You get what you pay for.".

Good luck!

+1 for OBX - we atleast have forum guys running them that like the product. I would stay away from ebay products for engine components etc

I'm not a fan of going the cheaper route when it comes to headers, mainly due to possible fitment issues, bad welds, lower grade of material, etc. but if you were dead set on going with a lesser expensive set of headers, then I'll throw in another vote for OBX. I have at least heard of guys buying them and having decent experience with them.

I haven't heard anybody talk much about the OBX V6 long tubes, but that's because many V6 owners don't do headers or they have the later edition of the V6 which doesn't allow for headers of any kind. That said, the V8 OBX headers have been a budget friendly header. The V8 edition is a knock off of Kooks. You might be careful with trying to change out the headers you have. There could be a restocking fee if BBK even takes them back. If you try to sell them, someone is going to only pay you used prices even if they've never been out of the box before because they aren't the original owners. Personally, if it were me I'd stick with what you have. BBK headers are a quality header that you can enjoy for years to come.

+1. And replacing header gaskets all the time or having annoying exhaust leaks is something that doesn't fall under the category of fun nor performance.

Do it once, do it right the first time. It usually ends up cheaper in the long run.

Absolutely. Even if it costs more up front, OP, you will most likely save the headaches in the future of a lesser expensive header. I tossed my Kooks Headers right up in with ease and they have been flawless.
