Getting a little tired of SoCal

Well, certain aspects. I wanted to ask how various members like the places they live? What things do you/don't you like? I graduate in a year and a half and am contemplating moving out of the sunshine state. Lots to give up, but after a while I'm more than sure it won't be missed.... well, I don't really know that? Do I?

New York/Pennsylvania Area is nice. Compared to places like florida, and California, it's quieter. The Snow/Summer alternations are nice, it offers some change every year. But, it also means the RWD ponys have to stay in the garage more than I'd Like.

Well Im from Pittsburgh,But I am a truck driver so Im not home a whole lot but whenever I come in I dont think there is anywhere else I rather live.

Your little area is a BEAUTIFUL place to live. If I am correct, it is costly, though. That would be my only drawback.

San Antonio is a perfect place...besides some warm summers and no REAL winters. SA is one of the most popular retirement cities in the US due to cost of living being so low. Property out here is relatively inexspensive. We really have it all in SA. It's a great place to live. The twisty, curvy hill country is just 45 min north of us. Austin is also 50 min away. The coast is a two 1/2 hour drive...great fishing! Plus we have numerous lakes around SA...Medina, Canyon, Braunig, Calaveris, etc. We have the Guadalupe river where EVERYONE loves to go tubing. It's just a beautiful place to live. There's a lot to do and just about anything you can think of is either in or around SA.

I grew up in Jersey, left 13 years ago. I've lived in San Diego for 3 years. Loved it. Chicago for 2 years. It was okay. Went over seas for almost 6. Came back to North East PA, I liked it but it was too quiet. Went to VA Beach before I deployed, love it. I've spent time in North Carolina, gorgeous, green and friendly. I want to move there. Been to most of the states in the US for extended stays.

If I have a choice, I'd go to New Mexico, Arizona, California again, Washington or Northern/ East Texas. I'm moving to Texas when I get back from my deployment.

There is nothing like a summer in Northern Michigan. All the lakes, the trees, nature in general. We have 4 distinct seasons, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Construction. haha.
Winter is amazing, but not for a Camaro. I am moving to Austin, TX for a few years, just to live up my 20's and drive the Camaro, but will be back in MI when it is time to settle down I believe.

I absolutely love Kentucky and wouldn't think about living anywhere else. We're right down by the Tennessee state line, so we go down there some too but their sales taxes are 4% higher than ours! With Kentucky you get a bit of everything except hurricanes or volcanos, haha! The summers can be humid and dry one day and stormy or rainy the next. The winters can be bitter cold on one day and we can have 5 inches of snow over night. I know I probably won't be going anywhere else to live.

I want to move to North Carolina, The State with the most Drag strips per capita. less than an hours drive in any direction there is a Drag strip

Love phoenix, with the exception of the heat and old retirees I can't find a fault with it.

Clean dry pavement 95% of the year (with rain the 3-4 weeks, aka 5%) NO SNOW unless you want to hit the high country. Cost of living is lower than most everywhere else, the housing boom that hit 4 years ago has died and now you can pick up a 2k sq ft home for under 200k with a pool. Cali is just a 4-8 hour drive, Colorado is a 12 - 16ish hour drive, and you get the biggest of the Barret Jackson auctions, numerous auto shows and possible concept sightings with the hot weather proving grounds from almost every manufacture.

Employment includes air force, google, intel, honeywell, boeing, petsmart (corporate and central warehousing), ect..

Well, here in Nebraska, it's a little bit of everything as far as weather....hot summers, cold winters, and everything in between. Sometimes, even flipped a little...warm (relatively) winters and cooler summers, but still....humidity is a little too high, too often, but....

Cost of living is relatively low, although property taxes are too high (of course, which tax isn't too high?). Although, if you get outside the city limits, it's even better.

Employment is varied....lots of small companies, plenty of big ones (ConAgra Foods, Union Pacific, Blue Cross, Mutual of Omaha (yes, the Wild Kingdom people), Level 3, Kiewit Construction, UPS, etc, and plenty of middle sized companies as well.

Best zoo in the country, College World Series is here every year (if you like baseball...I don't), and the Cox Classic is here as well (if you like golf...I don't).

Good medical facilities (another set of good employers) and the biggest draw, the schools. If you want your kids to get a good education, Nebraska consistently ranks high in the school systems.

A couple drag strips less than an hour away. Mid America Motorplex is 15 minutes south of here...they run lots of SCCA stuff out there, Porsche Club has one of their weekend deals there, so does the Viper Club (of course, it helps that Woodhouse, the largest Viper dealer in the world, is here). They also have some open-to-the-public weekends (for a fee of course).

Casinos across the river in Iowa...lots of fishing/boating/water sports spots at varying distances (from 10 minutes to a couple hours....5 hours to the Ozarks, etc), plenty of golfing too.

With I-80 running East/West and I-29 running North/South right here, driving is great...3 hours to Des Moines/Kansas City, 5-6 hours to Minneapolis, 8 hours to Chicago/St Louis, about 10 hours to Denver. Our Airport is big enough for service, but not too busy, so flying times are less than an hour to KC/Chicago, 2 hours to Denver/Houston, a little over 2 hours to Phoenix/Vegas, etc.

More importantly, within a 30 minute drive, there are a dozen Chevy dealers, all wanting to outsell the other guy, so getting a deal on the new Camaro will be easy enough.

I grew up in Florida, but lived in Virginia for the last 10 years. I miss Florida at times but I'm pretty certain I won't move back. I miss the storms (I love extreme weather for some reason) but not the bugs/heat/humidity.

Virginia has plenty going for it, except the communism that we have for a state government. I'm really considering moving on to North Carolina. I have family there, and my new girl is there...if she can't move up here I'd like to move down there. She wasn't the deciding factor though, I just love the climate and feel of NC AND Tennesse (my elementary years were in Knoxville, and I loved it).
