My girlfriend has no front license plate on her Cobalt and had never gotten pulled over, until she was going in for a major surgery and was already freaking out. State trooper pulls us over and gives her all kinds of crap till she was about to cry. They will use it as a dumb reason to see if they can get you on anythng else.
But I just can't do that to my brand new car.

There are a couple of threads where guys made mounts that puts in below the bumper and requires NO drilling of holes, that way if we do get the law passes, we can just take it off. I have seen a lot of Vette owers with the front plate in the front window, I am not sure if that ok by the letter of the law, but if you have it there, and get pulled over, you would most likely get off if you told the officer that the mount was on order, that at least you were making the attempt by displaying it.

No, I didn't put mine on, and no I haven't been pulled over yet. I've also owned 2 BMW e36 M3's and never had a front plate one either one and never got pulled over for this. Even a cop that pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for 'failure to signal lane change' didn't bother to mention or write me up for no front license plate. If they do pull you over, it is a cop looking for someone to mess with and still it would probably only be a fix it ticket.

I can only speak from my own experience. They may start getting more strict with all the red light camera that are going up.

I think its stupid that we have to get front license plates..

when u get pulled over its not like the cop comes from the front of the car, he walk from the back to the front so y do we need a front plate???

i live in TX n i dnt know what its like in other states, but have u notice that the higher end cars dnt have front plates or is that just me.. like the BMW, Benz, Lexus... ive notice that.. what just becuz they have a 40-50 thousand dollar car its cool..

i think they should just let it go n stop making ppl mess up the front on their cars for a law that no one cares for.. What yall think???

I think it stupid too, however, I live in a small town, and it would just be an excuse to pull you over and write a ticket to pad the city's pockets. I will NOT drill holes in my car, I have already told my dealer if they put holes after I specifically tell them not to, there will be hell to pay, I will either make my own custom holder that will go below the bumper and be held on threw the lower grill, as soon as the law changes, it will be history.

Here is what I did,I bought the remote hideaway plate that goes under the bumper ,what a mistake,it sticks out about 2 inches when the plate is hidden, looks worse than the front plate,so I am stuck for 130 bucks,I am sure this is why thier is no returns. So I took the plate bracket that came with the car and drilled two holes in it and used plastic ties to attach it to the lower grille, this way thier is no holes in your bumper.

I've had a 88' custom chevy truck, 91' GMC Syclone ( which ran the 1/4 mile in 13 flat bone stock) and a 99' Z28 and had no front plate on any of them. I never had any problems with law. I don't plan on having one on my camaro when it comes in. Hopefully any day now(del. date was 7-9). I think when you have a bad ass car or truck you should not mar the front of it w/ a license plate.

Front plate

It killed me and I'm still cringing, but I had it put on. I figure the way I drive, my speeding tickets will be enough...I don't need another thing they can ticket me for. A plain clothes cop pulled up behind me and told me he just got off duty and had seen me and was prayin I'd do something so he could pull me over. He was just dying to get a close up look at my car!
Since I got personalized plates, it's not too bad. I'll post a pic as soon as I can figure out how!

My dad ran a corvette with no front plate for years, never got pulled over once.
I, on the other hand, didn't have a choice... picked the car up with holes in the bumper :(

This topic is killing me already, I get my car hopefully the last week of August and I'm hoping the bill will take place by than. I don't think it looks bad or anything to that extent. But if it wasn't there the car would look better. So I'm not going to have it installed until I know for sure after Sept. 1 that the bill isn't going to pass.
