2002 Z7D Camaro SS for sale
Hi there. Does anybody know where there might be a registry for the 2002 Brickyard Z7D Camaro SS? I have the opportunity to look at/purchase Car # 61. It currently has #61 on the front dash, visible through the windshield, and also again where the license plate goes. I had him send me the RPO codes, and the Z7D is there. I read somewhere they made 62 or 63. There were 45 or so cars used for the actual race, then they sent some others to dealerships afterwards. This car has no Brickyard 400 decals, it is Silver with the 35th LE wheels. Can anybody help me verify whether or not the car is legit? Thank you

To my knowledge, there is no official registry for these cars. There were two groups of cars for a total of 57 Z7D's built for Indy. They were numbered 1-45 and 51-62. All were automatics except 5 cars, numbered 1,51,52,53 and 60. The car should be legit with the RPO Z7D on the door. The VIN should end with 2159404. The last time I've heard of this car, it was in Hilton, NY.

The windshield number is actually a graphic placed on the glass, not under it. As for the Brickyard decals, I've been told the stripes are no longer available. You would have to find someone with an extra set who would be willing to sell them. I believe you still may be able to purchase the rest of the graphics package. The race logos on the doors may be the exception, though.

Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town. Thank you for the information. I did receive the SVE paperwork, unfortunately I dont see anything that specifically says anything about it being a car used for the Brickyard or Promotions. This is the car from NY. I read somewhere, however cannot find the story any longer, but it said the second batch of cars never had Brickyard decals ever installed. I was also looking to see if that was true. Thank you for the information provided. Greg

If your interested in an article from the June 2003 issue of Camaro World about these cars, send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward you pdf copy. The article was written by the people involved with the program and contains a lot background information about them. The driver assignments shown in the article are not accurate. Five or six drivers are listed in the wrong cars. Other than that, there's a lot to be learned from it. |

Here's a picture of the window sticker from Car #10. Look in the middle of the options shown on the right in the picture below and you'll see what I'm referring to. This would also be shown on a dealer invoice if purchased. Last edited by peterpar; 08-24-2015 at 07:21 PM. |
