So the Nurburgring is approx. x4.45 longer than the Milford proving grounds track (12.9 miles compared to 2.9 miles in length). The camaro team stated that the zl1 1le is 3 seconds a lap faster around Milford than the regular zl1. So if you assume that 3 second gap will multiply over the length of a racetrack, using the 4.45 multiplier, the zl1 1le would be 13.35 seconds faster than the zl1 at the 'ring. Meaning the zl1 1le lap time would be 7:16.25.

note: i know the track layout of the 'ring and milford are vastly different, so this probably isn't very accurate.... but i'm bored today =)

Yup, should make for some interesting comparisons to the new winged Corvette.

Watch times to the Audi bridge right before final long straight. Better comparison on dynamics. The 2012 Z07 Z06 and ZR1 were very close to there but ZR1 opened gap after. Same for 14 Z28 even with a bit damp track compared to 17 ZL1. On final straight, the 17 A10 had much higher terminal speed of course. Higher downforce cars won't top out as well obviously.

Higher drag cars won't top out as well. This is the first modern General Motors vehicle to make use of an airfoil wing. That reduces drag due to downforce, significantly.

Anything that creates downforce increases drag - including an airfoil/wing - by disrupting the airflow over and around a car plus it increases rolling friction (desirable for grip). It is always a trade off.

Are you comparing an airfoil vs a blade type spoiler on the rear of the car's body?
