I have a 14 1SS LS3 and I had a noise in my transmission shifter area when I would accelerate too. After the 2nd time the dealer had my car for 3 days in a row I settled on GM paying for and installing a new ZL1 short throw shifter and believe it or not. the noise is not as bad now. My stock shifter had some metal on metal scratches (wish I took a pick) on the bottom.

Paying for a new ZL1 short throw shifter with installation from the dealer was GM's way of me agreeing to stop complaining lol. So whatever you do, keep complaining until they do something for you.

I went to the dealership for flashing CEL (misfire) and they told me that was "normal". They don't care about you or your car once they sell it and you drive off the lot! Some people try to defend them and say they do care but the fact is, they don't want to service your car in it's warranty period because free.

lol, maybe if your out in Appalachia. for most of the state put a 3 in front of that number. for the norther VA area put a 5 in front of it. and for the immediate DC suburbs like falls church, Tysons corner; put an 8 in front of it.

Normal that wasn't there at first? I googled the noise and everyone says something different. I'm not a mechanic but I'm going to take it to another dealership hoping for better results. For almost $50,000 I expect no problems.
How long have you actually had the car, and how many miles on it?

Does it happen just by depressing the accelerator (if so what rpm & what gear(s) OR or while shifting?

Actually, I don't believe there is a correlation between what part of the country you live in, and the price you would pay for a similarly optioned car. The only variable at play here is how desperate the specific dealer is in trying to unload inventory.

Just don't let them catch you racing it and keep driving... You've got a long way to go before you run out of warranty. Remind them that it will cost them a lot more when something finally breaks!

Is it an intermittent rattle? or all the time?

I let a friend drive my '14 2SS manual to a car event last weekend and I rode shotgun. All of a sudden I heard a rattle or buzzing coming from the shifter/console area. I started touching everything to see if I could isolate the sound and make it stop, but I couldn't. He pushed in the clutch and let it out and it STOPPED. Haven't heard it again, but that freaked me out a little.
