It varies quite a bit. Fall of '16 was really good - got in some legit 7/10ths driving on parts of the course. Most years it's pretty sedate most of the time, and you get a few good corners in here and there, but never really link anything up. If you get behind a lame car that can't hack it, then you'll be annoyed the whole time.

To add to what acammer said, Opening Weekend is a different animal. You'll be lucky to hit 80 on the straights. Plus they're real dicks with the rules because there are so many people there. It's typically better when we do our separate club run, although that may now be subdued since I believe our favorite pace driver may have retired for good. And last time we were there the track president got on the radio and made the pace driver slow down. More than anything it's now just a place for us to meet up and get together.

Add +1 with me. He wants to bring his 7 year old as a passenger. Is that ok?

If you mean tomorrow it is Opening Day, so I'm sure there will be an abundance of minivans there with car seats, lol. But, yes.

The real question is, am I going.? Highly unlikely. I'm seeing a weather rinse and repeat from last year. Standing around in 38 degree fog and drizzle for 2 hours again waiting for them to get started. Then going 35 mph on track. However, a coworker lives right next to the track so I will text him around 7:00 for a report and decide then. Other than that, it's an awesome day

The reason why I ask is that there are a bunch of guys I race with in autocross that do those WG days as well. They go with a BMW club I think? Most of them are experienced drivers, and they go 9/10th's-all out.

It just seems like a long drive to only be allowed to cruise around the track.

It's definitely more about the hanging out with the club guys than it is about getting to make hot laps on the track. For sure if that's your main objective, you're going to be disappointed. Some times it gets pretty good, but most of the time it's fairly sedate. The BMW club hosts some of the HPDE's I believe, if you're looking to really sample the track at speed that would be a good gateway.

I'd like to, I'm not willing to make the invest. $400 for the day sounds reasonably, but then tack on another $150 for track insurance, $300 for brake pads, $100 for an oil change, and $500 for the life you just took off the tires and it gets pricey (not actual calculated numbers - educated guesses, but you get the idea).

Hopefully May looks good and we can all connect for some laughs, laps, and a bite to eat.

What forecast are you looking at? I see partly cloudy, dry, and 57 degrees on weather channel and Weather Bug. No mini van either, he’ll be in his 5th gen. It won’t be the same without you Mark! Come on man get that gorgeous Z out of the garage and join us!

No fog in forecast last year either. Shittier the further east and north you go. But looks like forecast has improved. Shows foggy for my area 6:00-7:00. But may be partly sunny and 50 at the track by the time we go out. If my coworker gives a no fog I'll be there. We need to plan to be there by 10:30 at Gate 3

It has been raining here all day, so my car will not be clean. See you at gate 3 at 10:30.

The rain today is a good thing. Washing away any remaining salt! See you tomorrow!
