I think we learn something no matter what the conditions - but these were pretty poor so I'm not willing to say that was a factor. I know guys have gone 1.5x on this tire (in the super short configuration like I have) with M6 5th gen's. I do think it will make it less forgiving to launch, but I don't think that was my issue Friday - they just weren't prepping much if at all because the wind was killing everybody anyways.

I read an old thread where Billy(Bfastnotlast) was doing a 5 sec burnout so maybe the tires want a little more heat in them. Sux they would not do a decent prep so fingers crossed for the 27th!

Don't long burnouts like that sometimes result in rubber balling up on the tires and poor traction?

EXCESSIVE burnouts do produce undesirable results...like longer than 10 sec for a smoke show....adding 1 or 2 sec to a 4 sec burnout will not.
Consistency is key so determining what this particular tire/rim/car/motor/driver likes/wants leaves track prep, D/A and driver mental state as the variables. l8tr PEACE

Well Jeff, look at my sig pic. That was a 9 second burnout on Nitto NTO5Rs (was a cold day) and it yielded a 1.5 sixty foot. I don't know about any rubber balling up and hurting traction, but, I do know I hooked pretty solid.

As far as clean tires I always thought was part of the reason you see them cleaning off tires as cars back up after burn outs during races. Debris and rubber build up cause bad traction not a pro though just an old street guy. Doctor finally cleared me to drive so trying to make the track for the first time ever this weekend, so will post if I still think your times are still that impressive. I might run crap times if I can even get on the track as locals are doing a no prep mayhem thing, talking about some 405 guys showing up Not to mention chance of rain tonight and all day tomorrow so will see. Not trying to drive an hour round trip in the rain on skinnies with drag radials.

Yeah be careful at the strip and getting to and from. Getting caught in the rain with the DRs is really sketchy! I was almost at a 90 degree angle on the freeway at 55 mph at one point last time I drove it down to GPI in Arkansas, when it downpoured. Not fun!!!

No rain last night so did go racing, and wife took the truck with spare wheels just in case. I put down a best of 11.55 @ 117.49 w/60 ft 1.62 on a no prep track with instant green test/tune night. Ran 7.39 @ 1/8th that run as well. Spun through 1st(not horrible can just hear tires squealing all the way) and into second every time. Even with a Force style burnout couldn't get good traction for a launch. Something I couldn't figure out was every pass had me at 117 mph at the 1/4 no matter my time or 60'. Just thought that's the end of 4th gear for me I guess??? Side note only weight reduction for me is the drag pack, and I'm about 250 lbs to add to the car.
Was my 1st time every at a track and only lost twice on 9 runs. First run ever didn't realize it was instant green so left about 6 cars behind the other Camaro and pulled a mid 12 under 100 mph after lifting. Second lose to a new build TT Rustang that pulled a mid 10. Most gratifying win of the night against a stock GT Mustang always telling my friends how fast his Ford is. He pulled a mid 13 as his best when we lined up. Was really cool to hear the announcer comment about my "good sounding Camaro". One of the track owners did ask me to come back tonight for the DD class, again no prep. Doubtful but will post if I go. If not today I'm defiantly hooked and will be back, hopefully when the track is prepped! Lastly I was pitted beside a bike running 9's @ 155 all night. We talked about track conditions and he said trouble was all the street tires on the track on a no prep night causing poor traction so no matter what I did wasn't going to hook. He had been racing bikes about 30 years though and was a hella cool and helpful guy. Nice to know can find people to help out like that at the local track. Anyway enough of me ranting and thread jacking. Props to your time Chris

Here is a couple of my slips from left and right lane placed together so you can see the odd way they split the slips down the middle. Yes reaction time sucked as I could never get the hang of that instant green. But both are my runs car 11 on MH 325/45/r17's.
Also a video from the stands of a run with some tire squeal and the vid of my "good sounding Camaro" up against a really nice guy in a Tesla.

If I can go a 1.62 60' I'll go 11.40s! Nice pass. Prep or no prep, that track was hooking decent.
