I get your point about the weather, but LOL @ "all the snow up by chicago" there was like half an inch... for like 6 hours.

I think we just need to lock this thread down for awhile or something... it's going to be a little while before the Mods pick the place to be

We don't mind the discussion. What gets on our nerves is when we get posts that insinuate we don't consider every angle before making a decision.

It is a compliment to see so many that want the fest in their back yard. But we are mostly looking to be accessible to as many of our members as possible and deliver the core events that our members want to participate in. And bring in sponsors that offer the very best that the after market has to offer.

We look at facility, population, sales, weather, distance, and proximity to our own staff to name a few.

We are flattered that so many want to attend. We may end up with a three city rotation. Or settle on a single location. Too soon to tell.

Just know that it's not a popularity contest. We don't decide by a popular vote. As I'm sure all of you can imagine, it's just not that simple.

Firebird was about as perfect as it gets......my opinion of course and everyone's is different.

I'd love to see a Standing Mile event at next years Fest. I've attended some of those thinking eh....but when you actually SEE one, WOAH! Lotta fun and everyone can compete.

It was more than great this year and hats off to those to stuck it out all three days in the fantastic weather!

And another thing...

We read every post in these threads for ideas. We take everything into account.

For example, someone would name a park....let's say Indy.... I'd go to Google Earth and check it out. I look closely. I see no 1/4 mile track. I see no large autoX area. Right off the bat, that option would be out. Please...when we say it has to have a 1/4 mile track and room to auto cross, we really mean it. Then I see Indy like 10 more times.... Why would we do Indy if there's no 1/4 mile and no auto cross (two events that attract TONS of people)?

So again, please remember the following:

1/4 mile
auto cross
car show area
location (central to Northeast central)
weather (April/May)

It HAS to have all of these areas. A full on track would be nice as well. If not, it's not a deal breaker. However, we'd love to see a bit of everything for everyone.

Now go and search those tracks!!!

It was warm here this weekend. March is a better month for Phoenix. But let's face it, your up against mother nature no matter where you go. I couldn't afford Georgia, I was lucky it was here this year. Next year I hope to be able to make it, but if it's too far that's ok too. I will be happy knowing that other people get to enjoy it that didn't before.

Thank you Mod Team for doing all that you do.

I think you're only using it as an example, but I'll say it anyways. Indy does have a 1/4 mile drag. I just don't think the space is available for everything else. :( Sadly.

C5F III

I know the mods are still probably catching up from C5F II, but does anyone know when the location for C5F III will be announced?

The members suggesting Indy are not referring to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they are referring to Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Clermont. They have an .7 mile oval, 1/4 mile drag strip, and a 2.5 mile road course. I don't know if it is capable of operating all three at once though.

Here it is on Google Maps.
