From my understanding engine failures can easily lead to a loss of oil, especially bearings. I think our engines burned so much oil because there was a problem.
whats wrong with accelerating after a turn? If the stupid dealer told me that I would of said "SO?!" Jeez this scares me in modding my car. Soo damn fragile.
Ive been doing my oil changes myself but I think starting from now, im going to go back to conventional oil and do regular oil changes at the dealership to avoid any of this

If I took a car in for warranty work and it had been run out of oil, I believe they would tell me to scram.

This is why I check my oil once a week for peace of mind. It sneaks up on you. And if you like to get on your car its gonna go threw it faster

I read this thread this afternoon and imediately went outside to check my oil. Sure enough, the dipstick was dry. My heart sank. I rounded up a few spare quarts of 5w-30 and started pouring. It only took about 1 1/4 quarts to bring it up to full. I am surprised at the small range on the dipstick. It seems that anything lower than a quart low will result in a dry dipstick. I think I will be ok, but I'm headed to the dealer for scheduled service this week anyway. Glad I read this, it may have helped me dodge a bullet.

Strange how each engine is LLT engine is different. I notice a drop of 1/2 qt. in the 5000 mile oil changes that I do. I now have 27K miles on my Camaro. I have done all of my own oil changes and use Mobil 1 synthetic.

I've read this issue a few times on C5, I check mine regularly, but have only used 1/2 qt in the last 10k miles (14K currently). Is there a theory or proven cause for the few that have failed due to no/low oil?

Angry

I had bought a 2010 Camaro LT I’m about May last year. Drove it till about August, and the engine wouldn’t crank at all one morning and pulled the dipstick out and there wasn’t anything on it. Had to rebuild the engine
