This is where things started to spiral out of control again!!!.....
I ran across a great deal on the rear welds with slicks, thank you forum member, and my mind wondered back. The goal for me is to have an extremely versatile car that can cruise the streets in comfort, go sub 10's and still shred the corners. You have to realize that you cannot be the best at all things, and there is always someone faster, so I wanted the car to provide maximum fun in all scenarios without excluding anything. The real only way to accomplish this at my build level was to have 2 sets of rims and tires. Welds with DR's to and from the track and ZL1 rims with F1's for street and course. Jumped on them, Got the fronts and new tires from Summit. Stayed Radials so my Drag pack would remain street legal, not putting rims and tires in the car! 17x5 Fronts MT S/R 28x6x17 17x10 Rears M&H 325/45/17 I gave up about 35lbs vs Bias ply skinnies and slicks.... probably worth a 1/10 but knowing the rims and tires wont be useless to me the other 355 days of the year was worth it. I know people run bias ply etc, but I don't bracket race and the peace of mind in the radials were worth it to me.

So, I had a pretty LOoooooonnnnngggggg weekend working on the car, should have recruited some help....... I had an appt to get my drag alignment and all the tires mounted and balanced and switched around for Sunday morning. So I wanted to get the new suspension on, oh yea..... did I mention I got a suspension? ![]() ![]() ![]() Got a deal on a set of Pedders Supercars, 2 were known blown after about 2500 miles, I had the seller ship them direct to FEAL suspension in Cali for complete rebuilds and new fluid on all 4. Actually got an extra RR too. This also came with the Pedders 27MM adjustable front and 32MM rear solid bars endlinks etc. While they were being rebuilt I decided to get the Billet Radius Rod Inserts from JPSS and the Caster Locks. This suspension install was certainly a challenge, the Front sway bar puzzle, with my custom Trans cooler, Custom Power Steering Cooler and all the other HX lines etc... wow.... did it suck, but I figured it out. I also decided to paint the sway bars black, I wasn't fond of the red since it didn't really match the coil springs anymore.

Oh and before anyone freaks out, I set the ride height close to stock, or around 675MM because I am getting all my tuning done on the strip and eventually will go for a new personal best, it is my experience that slightly more ride height helps with suspension geometry and the squat. So I wanted to see if that would be true, ultimately I will set it "Dead Nuts On" to Pete's specs (as he would put it) and then turn my attention to the road course/autoX
For now, it looks like a Monster truck. Lol.... maybe it looked the same with stock suspension, but I sure notice it more, now that I have the power to adjust it. We will see!!! The front coilovers went on and went together pretty easily, I did not have any issues other than I set them and tripled checked they were the same on both sides like 4 times.

I had a little bit more trouble in the rear, the nuts that come with the kit to hold it all together were not included, I got lucky and had some super nice locking nuts that were the right size in my supply in the garage, so I didn't have to go hunting. I also had an extra set of rear SS coilovers from before, so I used those upper mounts and kept the stock rear suspension intact.
The biggest issue was 1 of the set screws for the adjustment cups was stripped out. Of course I did not know until I got it all together. These require you drill a hole in the upper shock mount and then use an adjuster cup set on a wire and then set on the adjustment knob, this way you can adjust it since you cant reach it from through the coil. I was pissy for a bit until I realized I could drill and tap a new hole for the set screw since it did not matter where the set screw hole actually was... duh. They look pretty good back there. And these freaking Sway bars are MAMMOTHS!! Heavy as crap and huge! they better keep me straight, because I added a lot of weight putting those on lol Last shots are the car after the Drag alignment and tires were switched back. I went .12 x.24 with a .007 positive camber, very close to pete's specs, I went with a slight positive camber assuming it would be full 0 on the launch squat. Also, it doesn't look too high in the last pic, but I will do the 660MM and get it aligned again for the aggressive street specs once I finish my drag racing itch!!!

Oh yea, the dampener settings!!
Just like Pete says to start with. From Full Soft Front 27 Bound 3 Rebound Rear 16 Bound 27 Rebound WOW BTw.... having dual adjustable shocks is VERY new to me... VERY VERY excited about them. Car ran good and even hooked some of the boost with the F1s, I think it was the suspension and alignment combined.... or my mind playing tricks on me! Hoping to get a few tests on the Welds soon!!! Welds, More Boost, Coilovers and Drag Alignment.... I sure hope to drop at least 3/10 ................. wishful thinking 5/10!!!

Just trying to get a few odds and ends on where I am with the car, I did cut and clamp the mufflers, I am not sure which way I want to go with exhaust in the future, but I know after dropping this heavy solid piece system solo a few times, I wanted it in 2 pieces! lol From here just a few shots of the tires and car with the Welds. You will notice som eof the clearance concerns with the welds, I have the ZL1 rear with Pedders Bars, so the LCA is pretty close to the rim and so is the Lower sway bar bolt. Nothing has rubbed for me, but I plan to trim the head of the swaybar bolt and probably get the aftermarket BMR LCA eventually.

I found a really nice Kirkey 47900 (Road Course) with all the mounting bracket attachments a pad that has hardly been sit on and a nice Schroth 6 point harness...... so since Hammdo just bought his Recaros, I knew I better step my game up and buy this!
![]() Mounting is a bit interesting with a variety of choices, originally I was going to use a Cloth non power seat when racing to save on some weight, clearly the Kirkey is ALOT lighter than any factory seat. I decided to modify a factory bracket from a cloth seat and make mounts on the rails for the kirkey, I know they do not recommend this, but I think it came out as solid or better than the mounts they sell with the seat, and I used Aluminum to keep the weight down as much as possible. I have a decent amount of Fabrication time in this piece even though it seems so simple in the pictures. I will go back and round off the corners to give it that pro status look, but I wanted to get it in the car and ready for race night! Mach'd it up on the Passenger side because my garage sucks. Very happy to have this seat and it fits me like a glove, not driving it to florida anytime soon, but I am glued to the car in this thing especially with the 6 point harness. Being 6'4 the factory seatbelts never fit my shoulder right, so I like this vastly better for performance driving. since it is on an OEM rail, 2 bolts and switch, that easy. Ready to do some work.

TY, let me know if I can return the favor!
In her defense, I almost left the strip, they had 300 cars, by 8:30 I still had not ran once. I was about to go and she told me dont even think about coming until I run the car! A "KEEPHER" for sure. Incidentally........set a new personal best by a mile, and then broke it again after some tuning tweaks. Only got 2 runs in, but I thought the track and crew did a great job given the hand they were dealt. 300+ cars is double the normal amount.
