Brake pad wear sensors
Random question because I really can't find any info on this:
Do the wear sensors only come with replacement OEM pads? Or is there actually a part number to order them separate that I just can't see? |

Maaan. that figures. Guess I'm stuck doing what others have done and zip tie them out of the way since I'm swapping to Girodisc. >< Dislike that solution immensely.
Thanks for confirming! |

I think I have some spare sensors if needed. PM me and we can sort it out if you'd like. I don't use them so I have new front and rears sitting in the garage iirc.

Sensor Removal?

I just ran into this situation. The system is designed to signal the dash light if the continuity is broken in the sensor wire loop. So as the rotor wears the wire within the little ceramic insert in the pad cutout, the dash and dic lights light up. If you are so inclined, you can take your old wear pad sensor harness side that has the connector just inside the engine bay. Cut about an 1” of each wire( there’s 2) and solder them together. Then heat shrink to prevent moisture. That connects the loop and takes the wire completely out of the wheel well. The rear sensor harness is on rock auto as a separate purchase, not sure how they can get it and not the front. But if you want at least some indicator the rears can operate the dummy light. Or you can bypass the rear the same way.
The little plastic pad cutout inserts get very brittle with heat and are difficult to remove without breaking. |

PM me if you want more details on how to use old harness plug to pigtail and bypass wear sensor system.

Old thread is old lol. Nice.
I'm good, thank you. Over 1.5 years of no issues with having them all just ziptied back. Since I'm in there ALL the time, I don't need a sensor to tell me when it's time. But I appreciate it. |

Also, ST43's do not have a slot for the wear pad sensors anyway, so this whole thread was a moot point.

Time for new glasses so I can actually see the old dates.
But if you want to get rid of the harness wire back to plug. It’s an option. |
