When you get yours, what are you going to do?

Just getting realllllly impatient over here in Washington and thought I'd start something interesting. What's the ritual that's gonna happen when you guys get your ZL1?

I live in Washington state so we'll like receive it after all of you since were the furthest away. We'll speed our way to the dealership after we get the call that it's there and then argue my dad who gets to drive it home. (I'll probably let him. I'm young, and inexperienced. A car of this caliber is not good for a new driver). The when we get home we'll take a million pictures and I'll share the news here.

So.....what's your guys'?

I'm pretty much thinking I'm going to one of our Sponsors that's back East. I think I'm going to trailer it back home completely protected. Because the train ride won't be nearly as long as I suspect it would be as a result of this, I don't think there's going to be much rail contamination in the paint. However, that's not going to stop my from doing the whole picture thing first. Then, I plan on almost imediately claybar'ing the whole car, and apply the protective sealers and waxes. I think I'm going to invest in those glass remediation/protective kits, too, that work much like the claybar kits. Then, I'm going to apply a product like Black Magic to all the textured plastic splitter, rocker and diffusers panels to keep them looking good for a LONG time. I'll detail the wheels and tires. I think I'll have the windows tinted within the first day or so, too. Then, it will be about a thousand more pictures. I might have a clear bra applied to the front right away, too; I hate paint chips.

I think that's what I'll have done within about the first couple days. I'll probably start some of the minor mods' by then, too, but I think I'll be doing some of the activities you've outline

I have thought about this time and time again. I well swoop over to the dealership as soon as I get the call. I plan on trailering the car home in an enclosed car trailer and putting it right into the garage. (We'll still have snow on the ground here in upstate NY:() Next I plan on giving her a good bath and take a bunch of photos to post on here and share with friends and family. Then the real pain begins b/c I'll have to stare at the car for a while before I'll be able to drive it due to the weather but as soon as it turns good I'm taking the family out in it and getting a clear bra for the front. My first mod might be matte black tail light bezels while I wait to drive her.

Why not order your ZL1 from a sponsor and have the vehicle shipped directly from Oshawa to a local dealer in the Sacramento area with a courtesy delivery? The courtesy delivery will definitively be less expensive than using an enclosed carrier to have it shipped to Sacramento from Michigan, and you will most likely have the car at home sooner with the courtesy delivery.

If I can't find a reasonable dealer in the Bay Area, I'm going to order my ZL1 from one of the sponsor dealerships and have it shipped directly to a local dealer via courtesy delivery.

Chevrolet has a uniform destination charge, regardless of the actual final destination, therefore, the destination charge is the same whether the vehicle is shipped to Michigan or San Diego.

I am going to neatly put away all the paperwork in the car, buckle up, adjust the mirrors, and red line it all the way out of the dealership. Traffic conditions providing, of course....

Thank you for reminding me of this. I keep forgetting this option. I'm kinda' torn, honestly, about this whole situation.

IF, all goes to plan, I'm kinda' looking for making this a big event, of sorts; some "pomp and circumstance", if you will. I think I'm romanticising it, maybe too much, but want to make an experience of the whole thing. I see videos of fanatics picking their cars up, and I just want to do that one time, with the car I've wanted most, in all my life. Is it worth the extra money it's going to take? I think it might be. I definately wouldn't mind a road trip across most of the country. I was kinda' thinking of making that my vacation that year (I'd probably be sacrificing a 'Fest, too :(). As much as I think I'll end up forking out, and as much as I know I'm going to need the $$$ for my plan of mods', I think you're right.

If you wouldn't mind, please share what happens when you set about getting your car. I know I'm curious, and haven't really followed another's experience regarding this process.

I'm not sure if this is classified as street racing so I think this is safe Spending $60K to get out the door's not enough! You gotta' spend another grand on new tires!!! LOL!!!

Will do. First things first, as I have to finish cleaning out another stall in my garage for the ZL1. I already have two Chevrolets which are only driven and see the light of day when it's dry weather. Now, I'm in the process of making room for a third. It's amazing how much "stuff" one can accumulate over the years. Luckily, I still have a good 6 months, at least, before I take delivery of the ZL1.

You have quite the collection, and I believe it's only getting better
