This is what I just received and I don't think it's the V2 I ordered
No ends on it, tape on the back and not pre-bent to fit in the mail slot?

Jonathan, Please check your pm and email.

Needless to say I'm a little upset, now I have to wait and send this back and
then wait another week or so to get what I ordered! So much for installing
this weekend.

I LOVE MY NEW DIRECT FIT RGB SCANNER!!!

However, it is NOT a "no modification required" installation.

The control box is hardwired to the positive negative wires. So, if you want to install this you either have cut the wires before hand or cut a hole for the box to go through.

If you go ahead and cut the wires, then because of the central placement of the control wire on the scanner, you have to drill a small hole, dead center of the slot to feed the wire through.

Too bad the control wire couldn't have been wired in the same place as where the clips are that hold the scanner in.

The scanner also needed connectors on the control box so you wouldn't have to cut the wires for install if you didn't want to cut a huge hole for the control box to fit through.

I did express my concerns and observations to Jonathan at AAC. He did tell me that cutting the wires for the install would not void the warranty.

Never thought about a DIY pictorial, but here's what you'll need...

Shrink tubing
Wire cutters
Drill w/ ž inch drill bit
3M Side Molding Tape for control box
10mm socket
10mm open end wrench
13mm socket

I'm confused as to "need to cut a small opening" for control box to pass through. Installation seems extremely easy, except the cut. The control box is close to 1/2" thick and close to 1" across. To me this is no small opening. Unless I'm missing something.

Looks like I will be cutting the wire to pass it through and splicing it back together. I did test out my light, works great.
I will be up in the morning to look into exactly how I'm going to install it.
AAC, if you read this can you please try to tell/show me if you can what you mean by a small opening?

You can cut the wires to pass through the hole in the bumper and re-connect them. This will not void your warranty.

Jonathan, Thanks for all your help

Got mine installed last night and it looks awesome! But for some reason my remote is acting up occasionally? ( I tried a new battery with same results )

It may work from 30 feet away one time and then the next time it won't work until I'm 2 feet away?

I also have not been able to turn on and off from inside the vehicle?

I installed the remote box for the unit next to the fuse box under the hood.

Do you know a way to wire up the unit so it will scan when the doors are locked and or unlocked, Plus be able to use the remote as usual ?

Again, thanks for your time!

The new scanner uses a IR eye so you will not be able to control the scanner unless you are pointing the remote at the eye in the center of the scanner but from what you are stating it sounds like you ordered the universal 22" scanner?

I do not know a way to wire the scanner for those functions but someone on here may be able to assist you with that wiring.
