Exclamation WHEEL SIZE HELP!! 20X9 Wheels on Stock Front Tires!!

Hi everyone,

I have searched everywhere and can't find an 'exact' answer... so here's my question:

The wheels I want are currently unavailable as "staggered," so I am going to get 20X9 wheels all the way around. I'm not worried about the fitment of the rears obviously, but I', slightly worried about the fronts. Will the 20X9's clear everything OK in the front? Keep in mind I will be using the original front tires... will they be too stretched? Also, the car has a 1.5" drop on it.

I am planning on having them installed on Monday... so I guess if it doesn't fit right, I will just have the tire shop put the original wheels back on.

Any input is appreciated!

20x9s will fit in the front if they are the same offset as the stock rears. The 245s up front will not works, so you'll need another pair of the 275s.

Thanks for the quick responses... I wish I could pick up another pair of 275s, but can't do it right now. I think I will have to make the 245s work for now, and pick up some wider tires down the road.

This thread, http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117142, makes me feel better about running 20x9's with the stock 245s in the front. It seems like they will look SLIGHTLY stretched, but nothing too crazy. I guess I was most worried about the fact that I'm lowered, but that doesn't seem like it will be a problem either. Thanks again, hope it turns out OK!

245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
255/45-20 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
265/40-20 = 28.4" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel
275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel

20x9 will work on the front but one thing you might want to do is research the tires you want to get.Tread width from one manufacturers tire to the other is different.I have the 20x9 set up on all corners and it is a little close to the spring seat of the front strut.

What's the offset of your front 20x9s? Also, are your front 20x9s on the stock 245s?

Thanks.

They will fit. They will be a little stretched, but nothing too crazy. If you're doing this in the interest of saving money, you can run them until the fronts wear out and then switch to 275s.

Look at the front tires of the following cars. All 245/45r20s on 20x9s.

LSx, I appreciate the assurance and photos to prove it can be done. I will definitely be going with 275s up front once they need to be replaced. Just trying to stick with the 245s for now.

No problem. Just wanted to make sure no bad information was getting out there.

Wheels are installed. NO PROBLEMS running 20x9's on front 245s! And yes, I am lowered.

Did you try to mount the back 275x40 at front just to see if clears ?

No... but from what I have heard, they clear with no issues.

There are many people running 4 factory rears. If your aftermarket 20x9s are the same offset as the factory rears, then you will not have a problem with 275 fronts. If the offset is lower, the tire may rub the fender.
