It all depends... Sometimes I hit all the gears, sometimes I start in second, sometimes I go from 3-6. I just love being able to row my own gears.

I usually will skip 5th. I only use it when I want to be economical but the flow of traffic makes 6th to much.

You guys paid for 6 gears you should be using them all. No sense in having 5 worn out gears and one good one left in the tranny! JK! LOL!

Since I have a V6 I don't skip, but I remember reading in the owner's manual that V8 models have a skip feature built in. Maybe if I had a V8 I might, but it feels just right rowing through each and every gear on the V6.

Situational...depending on road conditions and the traction you want to translate from your rightfoot/wheel/road

Butt...if you want to pass that car in front of you on the roadcourse...match the RPM w/speed entering the turn to utilize your powerband and zip by him

I skip gears all the time. I'll go 0-42ish in 1-2 and skip to 5th if I'm the first car at a stoplight. I skip 4th quite a bit, because I'll shit into 3rd around 22-23 mph and get up to 40+ from there and skip to 5th.

Skip gears all the time. It would be rare for me not to skip.

Upshifting, downshifting, I just grab the gear the best fits the situation. Hell, there are 6 forward gears to choose from and buttloads of torque - LOL !!!

I don't get it, why didn't you buy an automatic if you don't want to work her through ?

Yup, you don't get it...

I've been shifting gears for 45 years, I just somehow know which gear is the right one to select to match the conditions.

Running up and then down all the gears is for amateurs... J.K. NOT !!!

This ↑↑↑ . Make that 50 .

Except when consciously holding the revs down on a cold engine, I rarely even glance at the tach.

I suspect that I keep my engine running in a slightly tighter range of rpm for whatever the level of enthusiasm of the moment is, and I then select gears in accordance with that. Maybe that's a hold-over from a fair amount of motorcycle and "10-speed" bicycle riding in years past, but it is what it is.

1, 4, 6 or sometimes 1, 2, 4, 6

only when gettin' on it do I hit all the gears and 3rd more often gets used as passing gear from 6th than when up-shifting.

What are your shift habits and opinions on what's harmless or harmful?
I shift from 1-2 -3 and down
