Finally took my car to the track

Well I finally took my car to the strip! Took me a couple runs to figure out things because I have never had it or any car at a track. But after I learned the light and best car start I am semi-happy with it. The factory L99 gearing and TC is my enemy roght now. My best time was 12.55 @114. I raced a few new mustangs and a G8 that was there and off of the line is what killed me. The G8 would beat me to 1/8 mile but by then my car was awake and through the, feels like forever 1st gear, and I would scoot by him good.

Moral of the story is I would like to break 12 sec and I think with a good stall and some 3.91 gears illy car is definetly capable.

Nice to hear you had a good time. Do you have any pointers for a 'never been to the track' newbie? Track etiquite and whatnot. I'd like to run my car once or twice to say I did and see what all hubbub is about. BTW I have an M6 so it'll be a little different than you but a general what to expect would be helpful. Thx.

Must be your cam that's limiting your launch. Because most L99s (bolt ons) enjoy a very aggressive 1st gear.

My car (bolt ons + 3200 stall) launches explosively off the line (stock gears).

I would suggest a 3200 - 3600 stall (probably 3600 since you're cammed) and you should have no trouble getting in the 11s (as long as you're running DRs to hook up).

I know if I had drs I would definitely be in the 11s that launch could be tricky without some drag radials

I would make sure that when you get a stall, you better have drag radials too or you might be just as upset at your time. Bc now it will spin easily with a stock tire. A DR and a stall should put you easily in the 11's.

I was spinning before the stall so I haven't been back since the stall install. It would be interesting to say the least without DR's.

Yeah, higher stall without drag radials is a day full of frustration.
That's also why I run 305/45/18 NT555Rs on the street.

At the track launching from 1200ish rpm i didnt have any problem with spin. If i am on the road and punch it, or rolling any speed in first and punch it the rear will break loose really good!
