That is my car exactly. I love the white body with matching white SS emblems, and the contrasting black gutter molding.

How about I saw an LT or maybe even an LS that clearly had everything a non RS has from moldings, to 18's or 19's instead of 20'S and no halos, tinted tailights...etc. this happened in LA on it south by 710 yesterday around 430pm.

Come on people, I hate posers. Hate is strong word, how bout I despise imitations!

I don't think the VIN (and certainly not the 5th position, according to the referenced post) has anything to do with RS or Non-RS. For example, the 5th position of my VIN is a "J" and sure enough, I have a 1SS automatic (L99).

Here is the source post for this info. I have found C5 member Zed Sled to be a very reliable source of information about our Gen5s.

Yup, that is correct. GM has a page with PDFs for each year that show how to decode the VIN number of different GM vehicles. Each PDF contains the same information as the post you linked. Here is a link to the PDFs https://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Why don't these type of buyers ever come my way?

Why wouldn't you research that before you bought the car?
